Took these photos around a railroad area behind a big grain elevator on a rainy day.

Any pointers are appreciated.

The baseball one stands out as a strong picture.

Yeah, it was just one of those pictures that came out perfect the first time. Other than a little sharpening, I didn't have to change anything about this picture. I'm not exactly sure what I did right when taking this picture, but it stood out to me as well.

#1: good, and yet oddly vaginal. I like it!

#2: I think this shot would have been neat if you did not have the chairs layered on one another, but spread out and shot at a downwards angle so you could see each chair individually and spreading away from the focus. ...but I could be totally wrong because I can't really see how they were set up from this angle.

#3: The centering of the board works okay, but I'm wishing I could see the top of the silo (?) in the background. You might want to try angling up so you can get that in your shot... or taking a separate picture of the top of the silo and composing the two shots together for a vertical panoramic shot.

#4: Black and white with increased contrast might be really neat with this one. I totally like the angle you took it at. Props.

#5: Fairly boring. Maybe try pulling back and getting the trashcan in the bottom third of your shot so we could see the landscape with this one heap of junk just sitting there. Of course, the whole field might have been full of trash...

Thanks for the critique! I might go back there and try to redo 02, 03, and 05. Here's 04, altered:

You're right. The B&W w/ higher contrast does work a lot better with this picture.

Looks really cool!

I'd also like to take this stime to point out that everyone who liked the baseball was male, confirming my "oddly vaginal" comment from before. Just sayin'.
