We ended up talking to a girl who lived a few streets away, and she said that a man used to keep horses in the buildings. However, they didn't seem like stables and the presence of a swimming pool suggested to us that it probably was a lodge at some point (there are quite a few in the general area). Unfortunately, as you can see in the photos, the place was pretty trashed. Anything of value had been stripped out of it, but it was still interesting since nearly all of Gaborone has been constructed in the lat 40 years and you don't see many abandonments in the country as a whole.
