| | Trip to germany / Iceland. < on 1/29/2008 10:39 PM >
| | | Hi ! Me and my girlfriend are going to travel to Germany (Frankfurt / Bohn area) in a few months (End of April or Mai) and I would like to know if anyone would have any suggestion of good places to explore. We will spend a week in Germany, then we will spend another week in Iceland (Reykjavik area), so I'm also looking for suggestions of good places to explore in Iceland. Thanks a lot !

| | | I don't know of many places in or near Rvk that are abandoned but a friend of mine believes that this site is: Link The only advice I can give you is to drive around iceland and visit all the abandoned farms and (few) factories that are scattered around the place. I have added 3 locations to the db, but they are sadly all at the opposit side of the country.

Is it a long drive ? I'll be there a week, you know if there's anything else to see beside the blue lagoon ? Thanks a lot!

| | | Hmm In April/Mai it would take probably ~4-5 hours to get to Akureyri and then ~4 hours from there to Vopnafjörður, kinda depends how comfortable you are driving on icelandic roads (they can be really bad) It could take longer if there is snow..but I doubt there is snow in Mai If you dont feel like driving you could always take a plane, it takes only 40 min to go from Rvk to Akureyri. As for things to see there is Þingvellir and maybe the golden circle (you can see the geysers and waterfalls and stuff like that). And then there is Ásbyrgi and Mývatn-lake in N-Iceland. I think you could also go with some 4x4 group up on the glaciers and to the highlands if you are into that kind of stuff. Or you can just stay and party in Rvk ;) [last edit 2/2/2008 7:10 PM by crazy - edited 1 times]

| | | Been in Iceland many times, it's so beautiful!!! I advice you to enjoy the nature there and skip the urbex parts, an empty farm is nothing compared to the icelandic nature.
