I'm spinning counter-clockwise, each turn robs the planet of angular momentum, slowing its spin the tiniest bit, lengthening the night, pushing back the dawn, giving me a little more time here with you. |

| | | I don't get it? We do call them Keenex and those block type toys with the holes designed to fit into each other can only be described as Legos, right?? I mean, if you just say 'blocks' that could be plain wooden blocks...
I don't get it.

Just annoys me greatly when people call the toys 'legos'. Always did.
|
I call them "Legos". Of course, the LEGO company would very much like it if I always said "LEGO brand building blocks", and in fact for a while they had a website up where if you went to www.legos.com, it would scold you and tell you that the proper name was "LEGO brand building blocks". Photoshop had the same thing -- they scold people who say that they "use photoshop" or "photoshopped an image" -- the proper term is "Used Adobe Photoshop software to manipulate the image". I really don't care that much about any big company's marketing or legal department's wishes, so I say "legos" and "photoshopped".

haha crazy!
And about the legos thing, I'm not too concerned with the copyright stuff about it, it's just one of the many things that just annoy me when people say it. I just see the word like deer, you don't say a herd of deers, that's just not correct, you say a herd of deer. Or a box of lego, I'm playing with lego... yadda yadda... tissue, adhesive strip/adhesive bandage, aceteminophen/pain reliever. oh, and "in-line skating". it doesn't bother me, i just recognize that it's brand recognition.

think of it this way, you don't refer to all sneakers as nikes do you? calling a tissue a kleenex is the same idea. and legos or similar things from other companies that aren't legos could be refered to as plastic building block/bricks and people would know what you meant.

now that's just stupidity. i refer to legos as legos just like i've been doing since i was 4. can they really expect people to say "lego brand building blocks" every time they mention legos? you'd sound like an infomercial gone bad. and with regards to photoshop, i've always refered to it as "fucking around with/fucking up an image". WRONG! You need to say "The image was enhanced using Adobe® Photoshop® software." not "Used Adobe Photoshop software to manipulate the image" See this thread -> http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 [last edit 2/1/2008 1:13 AM by Mickael - edited 1 times]

Do you have a link? I'm curious. Once I did an exploration of my own house, but it is a lot less funny than the LEGO tower expo. I really enjoyed that one! http://pkazil.free.fr/Indoor_expo.html
