I must be so old/stupid because I don't even understand the question. No grappling hook, tabi boots, sonic guard dog phasers. I'm assuming that this stuff trumps a flashlight and a pair of waders. More important than a good rope, I mean a good one. Shit you can't be without a shitty raft AND a good pump (keeps the raft from sinking, they always get holes you can't seem to patch when it's below 0)
I'm gonna but an H3 a laptop with megs of stuff, and a big dork chair to read about exploration from.

you can use the GPS in the laptop to help explore, and make a interactive map. I'm going for the tripod, should last longer.

idk man, i don't think the GPS is going to help you inside of a building. also, if you really want a gps, or to get into geocaching or something along those lines, why not just buy a small handheld? as for interactive maps, i think part of the allure of the exploration is about finding out routes for yourself. depending on how new you are to this, you might even leave the camera at home until you get comfy moving around these spaces. keep it simple.

And it does work in areas where historic caves used to be and huge railyards where people guard the new cars parked there waiting to be loaded onto trucks to go to dealerships. They don't fuck around and it's easier to use a GPS to get reference points to transfer to 100 year old maps where almost all of the buildings have been gone for 50 years. Never did try to shove a laptop through a manhole or even use a GPS above ground in a city. Maybe you're on to something here. I should listen more.
