| | | haven't yet seen it, but i've just gotta say: flying cats??? cats are pretty resourceful animals, i'm more inclined to think they would eventually take on a pack mentality like their wild counterparts and hunt various other animals that would probably be inhabiting the buildings as well than just sprout wings and fly. from the sounds of it they're making it out to be that almost all city centers are made up of skyscrapers. i know that from a 4.5 story tall parking garage, i can see the majority of my city. and if i go to the new one that's even taller, i'm high above most of the buildings in town (except for the holiday inn across the street). and cats are smart enough to find the stairs and see their way out of a building if they managed to get in in the first place. ;) not that flying cats wouldn't be awesome though.

What is this Canada you speak of? I've never heard of it. Aside from that and the mention of flying house cats within 500 years, and the ignoring of climate change I thought it was a decent show. Funny to think that horrid little towns like Barstow and Needles are going to out live anything on the east coast.

Well, in their defense, the gentleman did emphasize "if you really want to get imaginative..." In reference to the cats. Definitely interesting, but as Samurai mentioned, it does have a sort of eery apocalyptic prediction feel to it.

| | | I found it interesting that in this "modern" age our history will disappear over time because we're not writing it on caves and carving it into stone. scary to think that in a million years people/things/whatever will know more about cavemen then us.

| | | I watched this excitedly, however my excitement wore off w/the repetition. Still, it was pretty cool but did anyone else think the show was written so that folks in were not like "yeah, this may happen," but rather "OMG! I can't fucking wait until people die!"
You betcha |

| | | Posted by u25680 very interesting. I wish there was more footage of Prypiat. One thing I didnt see or here about was the effect from synthetic stuff like plastic, styrofoam and other stuff that does not breakdown. that has to play a role in what happens.
It was nice to see a local spot on TV though.

They did have a neat segment on what would happen to film and other media, like compact disks, and how long it would take for them to deteriorate.

| | | There was a show on the History Channel last night called 'Life After Humans' and it chronicled what would happen to our world and more importantly our cities at intervals after humans have left the Earth. They showed what would happen at 20 years then 50 and all the way up to 2,000 years. It was amazing. They did a whole segment on Chernybl and explored the city and what happened there and how nature has reclaimed the city. It was a really good program, I think you should all check it out.

There should be a feature that lists all the original threads that got merged into the surviving thread. I could be wrong, but I think you just got pwned by a thread merge done by one of the mods.
