| | Hickup of a Town, but wow does it have some hum dingers... < on 12/21/2007 9:06 PM >
| | | Greetings all, I live in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of town, approx. 4 hours out of Melbourne, Australia. In my final year of High School here, I discovered that there was a closed down woolen mill and insane asylum (sorry, Nuttery :p) that were ripe for the urbe-x. So as I've detailed in another post, I got, UNFORTUNATELY, very little evidence of the 'Brierly Asylum' before it was torn down and subdivisions made overtop. I dunno about everyone else, but I wouldn't dare live on a house that was built on asylum land. Inviting way too many issues that way. ANYWAY, I recently heard that they were tearing down the Woolen Mill to build guess what...subdivisions. So myself, my Fiancée and two of our buddies decided to venture out and see what was left. Let me just say...oh my god, this place looks small from outside but it's absolutely titanic from the inside. Plus, there's what look to be catacombs that run a good story and a bit underground. Last night, due to my lack of foresight in what we'd find, there were no digital pix taken, but I'm back in the breech tomorrow night (sunday the 23rd, Dec.) with a camera and a more powerful flashlight, see if I can get some snappy-snaps for everyone. Hey - live in Melbourne and think you can haul your arse down 4 hours to w'bool? Sally forth and join us, before it goes down in a pile of ashes and asbestos. Aha, just a little note on the end. I found a map that hadn't been looted of the mill, and will take a pic of it so you can see the size of this place. Wait, just google map it!

| | | There are 44 locations in the database, so there must be Australian members. This board doesn't get a lot of traffic so you might want to find other ways to get their attention. I recommending posting comments in the database, and bumping older threads about Australia.

| | | Thanks for the interest, It's a pain in the ass to resize everything, as they're all 1.1meg and i've gotta download a *cough* legal *cough* photoshop program to cut them down in size. Great fun though, found some nasty porn and some soiled boxers which was exciting. If anyone has any clever ideas on how to cut them down to 100kb then fling them at me! Cheers

| | | Try using GIMP for image editing. I use it because it's a free alternative to photoshop
I make love the same way I resolve arguments. With my fists. |

| | | For resizing images, this little freeware program is excellent. http://www.irfanview.com
