Shit. Well at least it came with a decent bag, it cost me under $10 with shipping.

EDIT: I might just buy an adapter so I can use p100 filters in it.

Best check the mask to see if you can get a good seal on your face though.

I make love the same way I resolve arguments. With my fists.

I just throw my bronica etrsi, mama c330, and minolta x700 into a pillow case, and tend to tie it around my manfrotto tripod, then sling it over my shoulder in a glorious bum satchel.
But seriously, I really do.

I wrap my rebel in a t-shirt and carry it around in a plane old backpack. I have a shoelace tied to my tripod to carry it with.

I use my hands. And my pockets.
Everything else I need is carried by my pet kangaroo, Joey.

Caution! This user is a wise ass and may use sarcasm.

Is my back pack good enough for UERing?

Yep, approvedgasmasks.com doesn't seem to like it, but then again, they don't seem to like anything they don't sell.

That site seems to be measuring performance against chemical agents designed to kill enemy armies. Those masks are probably okay for nuisance dusts. Some of them say they fall apart due to bad adhesives, but I wonder if a tube of shoe-goo wouldn't solve that. Breathing shoe-goo fumes wouldn't put you in a much better position though.

Fuck that! You don't want some bag of shit that falls apart. You want something that can take some abuse and keeps a seal. If you need to glue it yourself then get a new one.

haha, yeah. You can really get an idea how it's going to perform by looking at the price. $10-20 for a surplus one, $100-200 for a commercial one.

The thing is, if it's just nuisance dust, it'll cause some irritation, but no long term effects unless you're in it all the time. The mask would be for comfort more than anything, so a shitty mask without a good seal would be better than nothing. Of course one of those avian flu type masks would be lighter, less restrictive, and less overkill for dust.

On a side note, I just read that among the follies of buying a gas mask, people are supposed to get them custom fitted. Where I work, we have backup SCBA kits, and they're not fitted. Suddenly I feel less safe.

For just nuisance dust, but disposable paper masks that you can buy boxes of about 50 for quite cheap. For anything more, it is worth investing a decent mask and the right filters.

This is what I use:

All this is slightly off topic though...

I also just sometimes fill the pockets of my coat.

Get yourself a messenger bag.

I prefer a Chrome, because they are almost indestructible.

Yeah, those disposable masks are what I meant.

On topic, I'd use a vest with a good number of pockets. Not big and bulky like police tactical vests; just something light and unhindering.

And i also bring a light vest with large pockets. When i know the area, i bring just a small camera case, vest and tripod case.

Cargo pants. Just remember to keep things light (no tripods, massive lenses, kayaks, whatever).

I would kill you for a snack right now. I mean, seriously. I would end you for a cookie.

I usually put all my stuff in my backpack and close it so the zippers don't rattle. I guess if I wasn't bringing water and snacks I could use just my pockets, although it is nice to have a place to strip off a sweater or jacket if I get too hot.

I am looking into getting a mid size camera bag so I have a better place to put my camera (duh) and can use it as a credibility prop if I get caught.

I tuck the zippers in like the one on the very front so they don't make noise.
