We want to go too but
I feel it just might be too dangerous. A lot of crime goes unreported or uninvestigated. Wandering around being obviously not a local, with your camera, passport and cash in an abandoned building is not a smart idea. Many of the abandoned buildings are a safe haven for criminals and walking into the wrong place will get your photo in a gallery like the one posted here.

That does bring a very valid point. Someone can just sneak up behind you and push you down an elevator shaft. Your body won't be found for years, and when they do find it I doubt they'll do too much about it.
Although it kinda makes it more fun that way too

A friend of ours was in Siberia walking around an old rail yard taking some picture when someone from behind pulled a potato sack over his head and clubbed him unconscious and took everything he had and left him there. Lucky to be alive.
