Why not? I can do this picture with my eyes easily, not quite so easily as the other ones but it only takes me about 2 seconds to get it to work. Geo, are you using a stereoscopic lens adapter, or are you manually shifting them?
|
I use a "slide bar", of sorts. I usually move the cam 60-65mm for "normal" shots. G [last edit 11/22/2007 12:20 AM by Geo - edited 1 times]

| | | Posted by KublaKhan is it possible to create a code or a function or whatever you call them that could transform stereoscopic images into fully rendered 3D images? |
Not sure what you have in mind.... Many years ago I d/led free software that makes random dot stereograms like in those "Magic Eye" books. But the coolest solution I've seen is just to make a simple animated gif of a stereo pair like this:

| | | It was very difficult for me, keeping in mind I have excellent control over crossing my eyes. You might want to consider making the pictures more narrow.

I think it's the grey line in the middle, I've experimented with this too and found out that it makes a big difference as your eyes have to cross further.

| | | The images aren't any further apart. The grey is there to delineate the images as you cross your eyes. It helps people who haven't gotten the 3d effect, by telling them to cross their eyes until the 2(the 2 you see when your eyes are crossed) grey lines are approximately a pictures width apart. If you feel you are crossing your eyes too much, move away from the monitor. G

| | | I liked your first example Suicide, that came out really nice. The other one was a bit too large for me though, I'll have to bring it home and resize it before I can view it. *sighs* And here I though I was the only one that did this!

How did you do that Lord?
Incidentally, I usually do this with macro's...such as these...
But sometimes I get some non-macro shots that work decently as well

| | | Some of these did not come out exactly as I envisioned. But I'm getting a better feel for how far to slide between shots. While I realize there are mathematical formula for it, that takes the surprise out it for me. enjoy G This was normal separation.
This one could've used more separation, but much more and giantism would've started to show.
I'm not so happy with this, I should've found something to climb up on.
Hah, this one is for the trained eyes, it just hurts.
I forgot about this one, too bad i didn't separate further. It almost looks like a fake pair.

| | | I tried this out, just a couple quick pictures of my scooter. It was much, much easier than I thought. This first one pops out quite well.
Here's one with just the scooter.
I'll try this out with more interesting subjects soon.

| | | racetraitor, Nice to see someone else shooting actual pairs and posting them. They are an excellent way to display some of the locations we come across. Heh, when I first looked at your pairs the first thing I noticed is the no motorcycles sign. I would've parked there too. I did not notice that you presented these as parallel pairs when I first tried to view them, that hurt for a moment. I had to take them into photoshop and reverse them to view them. Nice pairs. How far did you move the cam? Are you using a slide bar? And they are so easy too shoot, more people need to give it a go. gr8fzy1, Some of the pics you posted would've been awesome had they been shot as stereo pairs. Yes, I think it is a very good way to photograph some of our locations. I will start to do it in the future. I didn't notice the no scooter parking sign until I returned to the scooter. Then I was inspired to take the picture and I remembered this thread. It's two-by-two. I don't know if reversing the order would help them.

Again..nice parking spot. There are 2 ways to display stereo pairs, cross eye(the easiest for not having a viewer), and parallel(very hard to train your eyes for without a viewer). Your eyes naturally cross, so, for a crosseye pair you need to place the left image on the right side and vice versa. G try this,
