Ghost Town

On Friday, we visited the Ghost Town of Juniata, Iowa.

There were about 5 houses, a grain elevator thing, a barn, a few destroyed buildings, and lots of junk.

Video - http://www.youtube...atch?v=nTi5BSx5EBs
Some photos - http://www.youtube...atch?v=vF2mMZFqE3w

The grain elevator thing

The largest, and newest house

The house was kind of creepy because it had a lot of newer things. Such as these-

And It was almost like the owners just got up and left one day- kind of odd.

A rusty and burnt trailer house

Fairly new license plates found in the garage of the house

I tried to climb to the top of the elevator, but got scared about half way up and came down

but it was effing tall.

Whoops! Didn't see that sign coming in.

All these photos were taken with my friend's camera, because mine is fucked. I'm thinking about buying a rebel XT soon. When I do, I'll go back and shoot some better photos.

That's pretty damn cool! I've never known about that place before.

If you don't mind my asking, where in Iowa do you live? I'm in Dubuque.

I'm not sure a grain elevator and a house qualify as a ghost town.

They sure do, at least they do in my mental construct.

FYI: There is no one true definition of a ghost town much like there is no one true definition of a hamlet, village, town, city or megalopolis.
