I think there are actually several places on the island with squatters. 2-3 i'd guess. The red house DEFINITELY... the bed upstairs was made... in another, the fridge still worked and there were 3 bottles of gatorade in there and in another cabinet there were poland spring bottles of vodka and whiskey. On the sofa of that camp was a Notice to Quit dated July 2007.

That's because the place was actually abandoned in July 2007, according to wikipedia. Yes, only a few months ago. When the residents were officially evicted, they couldn't just pack their cars and drive off, since the bridge to the city caught fire in '96. Each family was only able to take as much as they could fit in a boat, and each family was only allowed one trip by boat to and from the beach to move their belongings back to the main land.

(disclaimer: this is what i remember from when i first looked up the details & history of the place sometime in july/august-ish, and i'm completely exhausted right now while writing this, so please correct me if i'm wrong about anything.)

On another note, I've personally never ran into squatters there, only the guy that still lives in one of the houses, random old people going for walks, and once a guy with a camera who took off running down the beach once he realized we were there. Then again, I've only been a handful of times since July, it's not a bad drive from school, but a serious bitchandahalf of a drive back to my house in MA.

With minimal photography knowledge, I'd say you're off to a wonderful start. My advice is to use trial and error; one of the great things about shooting digital. I promise you... the more photos you take, the better you're going to get.

Hey Herb, Thanks for taken my with you yesterday...it was a blast! I'll be posting my photos today as well.

Beautiful shots from set's 2&3. Also some really good ones in set 1...but aren't #9&#15 in set one the same shot?

PS...how was the chili?

Np fzy1 glad you enjoyed. as far as the repeat in the first set, yah I saw it but not until 24 hours after and I couldn't edit it to fix it.

Yah, we got there at about 1:30ish, met rick with the bike and the arm tatoos. He's a pretty cool guy. Tried telling me he only sleeps out there once in a while, yet every time i've been there of the 4 times I've been out in the last week his bike tracks have been on the beach.

Sucks that our paths didn't cross.
