My multi tool design

I still have a few details to work out (like just how exactly do I grind the seatbelt cutter...) but this is a tool I just recently finished. This is the prototype mind you but I think the idea has promise. In the time between cutting out the first batch of these I have since gone back to the CAD and improved some of the features such as the bottle opener and re engineered the overall shape of the seatbelt cutter. Anyway the tool is D2 treated to HRc50 as I was told this is the right range for this particular tool steel considering the applications of the tool it's self. In all the tool includes a bottle opener, hex wrench for magnetic screwdriver bits, a straight slot screwdriver/pry tip, phillips head screwdriver, oxy valve wrench and soon to be seatbelt cutter. The tool is 5/32" thick but I am thinking of doing future batches in 1/8" instead. The finger hole is oversized and the grip is very comfortable.

A closer view

The oxy valve wrench and phillips head screwdriver

The straight slot screwdriver/ prytip, bottle opener and hex key wrench

Where the seatbelt cutter will be when I can figure out how to grind the damn thing.

nice work

and sharp corners did you use a water jet or edm to do that?

seat belt cutters like the fire dept uses have a blade angled into a tight V but Im wondering if you grind a radius into both side at the apex of the belt slot and accomplish some cutting effect

(see line cutter on dive knife or gutting slot on some big game knives such as the Wyoming knife)

seat belts are tough and I think you'll have to force them into a tight V slot almost like where scissor blades meet, its difficult to write this out but nice work.

This seems to be a very well thought out and useful tool. Good job!

Nice design. The folks over at Swiss Army Knife better watch out.

Is this the ultimate b/e tool?

A bottle opener *and* a seatbelt cutter? Olaf, you've really outdone yourself this time.

It's useless without the toothpick and tweezers...

Sorry man this is utilitarian in purpose, otherwise I'd have different features on there. Tweezers, hmmm.......

Have you considered putting on an exchangeable surgical blade in the seatbelt cutter?
