I've just moved to Kelowna and I'm wondering how many active UERs there are up here. Some friends and I are down for some exploring and I'm wondering if anyone could tell us some cool stuff to check out.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

I'm new to Kelowna myself - only been here 2 months after moving from the Niagara Region in Ontario. (also new to these forums - first post) I hope there's some interesting things to explore around here. Later today I'm going to check out the old abandoned Blue Hawk Mine. I hope it's not too flooded at the entrance (I've heard it sometimes is & I don't have good boots) but I'll bring my camera & hopefully get a few good pix. If there's anything else interesting to check out around here, please post 'em here!

hey ive lived in kelowna for over 16 years and cant find much stuff to explore.
there is an excellent site just past salmon arm on your right hand side of the highway about 25 minutes out of salmon arm towards sorrento b.c. This is probley the best place ive been to yet.

there is also a place by reed's corner, which is past the grand 10 theatre.
it is on the right handhand side right across from tim hortans. small house with a small amount of graffiti on it

could you direct me to Blue Hawk Mine by any chance?
thanks
-mike

Click here for directions to Blue Hawk Mine. It wasn't much, but still kinda neat - I'd never been in an abandoned mine before. I'd like to explore a larger one sometime, and I imagine there's plenty around here. I just need to do some digging. (pardon the pun) The key to finding it is that swamp & cabin mentioned in the directions - they're both really obvious. It's a bit of a maze up there & I made a wrong turn & guessed right on a few others. About 300 metres after the cabin, look for a trail that drops off steeply on the right - that's it.

There's some ghost towns & abandoned mines a few hours NE of here - guess I'll be doing a road trip some weekend soon. Hopefully I'll get some good pix to post.

As a city, Nelson has been beautifully restored. You can tell that they take their heritage seriously up there. Too bad it's overrun with smelly hippies in the summer - should be good now that the weather is colder. I've been to the town several times, but I've never had the opportunity to explore anything.

yeah, i've heard about the hippies. and the weed. so it's kinda like Boulder, except in Canada.

i'm hoping to find some mines or something up near there, too.

There is/was (?) an locomotive repair shop and a railway station in town that I and some members of UEA have explored in Nelson, two years ago.

I lived in nelson for a couple years. There are many mines around. Lots of old railway ruins. The KVR (CPR) locoshop, and station are great. The locoshop is easy, the station a LOT harder. There are all sorts of mines around, like in Ymer. I was lucky enough to have a job at a mill, and work in a pub at the same time. I lived above the pub as well. I had a great time. The mill is shut down, the pub sold. I really miss Nelson.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

The station was quite easy for me to get in. All you have to do is use the Winnipeg method entry.

Very simmilar the the East Van method. The other method I like to use requires...well, and orange vest, and a hard hat.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!
