It used to burn coal and other materials to make steam to power the generator.

Kalakala? Or perhaps it would be more appropriate to call her the Peralta. I don't believe in renaming things.

Well since the name's been blurted out publically (Tom...) I was referring to the Kalakala although I'm sure there are many abandoned ferries around the Puget Sound.

The, cough.. Peralta is now pretty much just a tin can. Everything interesting was taken out when she was converted to a floating cannery. The design was and is revolutionary, personally if I were going to see the ferry I would be satisfied seeing just the outside. If security is bored enough maybe they will give you a tour, you might have to sign a release though.

I knew I should have maintained silence on UER... I'll just be happy with exterior shots next time I'm up there. Many people have said it's basically stripped.

Why not just ask for a tour? [email protected] Or buy tickets when she once again sails the ports of Seattle. I'm glad their not using her for a dumb museum as was the original plan.

Its a little bit of a bitch to get inside, but its worth it. Last time i was there they had all of the ferry chairs properly placed but i never got a good picture of it. I can see what i have for pictures if anyone wants me to post up.

She's pretty well stripped, and a motherfucker to board; but I thought it was well worth the effort, and I'm sorry I never had the chance to go back before I moved.

Ive actually been on the kalakala for free, except it was back in like 2000.i really liked the ferry at the time, i was like 8 or so, but the ship was still pretty cool inside. now that they've restored some of it, it should be WAY cooler.
