A couple places in Welcome, NC

OK, for as long as I could remember, there has been a pair of old houses on Old-52 just beside Welcome Arcadia road. For those who remember my first post, that was the house I explored. Well it appears they are trying to clear out all the crap from the one beside it. As far as I know it's been abandoned but used for storage. My guess is that someone purchased the lots there and plans to level both houses, so that one's probably going down soon enough.

The house

The next was an old furniture storage barn. I recall riding by it and peaking through the cracks to see some furniture inside. One day it caught on fire and it's been abandoned since. I'd forgotten about this place but when I was getting the map for the other house, I saw this one...

If anyone's interested in going to either place, talk with me. I'm a bit more apt to go to the old barn because I'm 100% sure it's abandoned.

That looks like a large structure in the first map. One floor?

Wrong building ;) That place is a small salvage shop, and they sell the mini-bikes there. It's the house beside of it that's abandoned/used for storage.

I'm sorry ^^; The 2nd building I posted(the furniture one) is fairly large. From what I recall, I would say it's larger than the mistaken one on the map Plus I'm thinking it did have a basement or sorts. There are some houses and a bank near-by, but I think it'd be fairly easy to be avoided. Plus I'm good friends with someone living very close to the place so I don't think she'd bother me or could vouch for someone if I'm around and police are involved

Maybe next week I'll scout the area a bit better.

The furniture place was a bit cooler than I was expecting. It actually may of been in the process of being converted into something else before a fire forced them to close up. I recall long ago a friend and I going by on our bikes and peaking inside to see all the furniture. However, when I went by just today, I could tell a good portion of the building had been converted to offices...

Despite the fire damage, the floor appeared to be quite sturdy. Aside from things possibly falling from the celling, it would probably be quite safe to explore again. At least later on when the wasps aren't so active...

Thanks! When I first walked into the building I saw what is the 3rd picture. "OMG THIS IS IT!" And the 4th is now my background on a couple computers

I posted some more pics in the UE DB, but there's probably more to see. I basically didn't go into any of the offices nor did I go very far into the storage area. Apparently there are more rooms back there, but there were no windows and I didn't have my flashlight with me... Plus there were stairs to go up, but I don't think there's much left up there...

Here's a photo of the house I mentioned above as of today (10/09/2007). I'm pretty sure someone still basically owns it but it's being cleaned out, soon to be leveled as the neighboring house was.

Some rednecks might still live there...

Just something to be aware of.. I've seen houses in similar condition around here that still had people living in them.

Cool photos. Is the burned house Near Charlotte? I swear I saw the fire report on tv when I was down there in this place in April.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

u25680 - Nah, as the title says, they're in Welcome (Lexington) NC Besides, the fire happened around 2003 or so.

aGlock4u - Haha, perhaps. Though as long as I've lived here, it's been seemingly only used for storage. With the adjacent house already torn down and the rate Welcome's been expanding, I suspect something will fill both lots soon enough.
