Seeking abandoned farm near Peoria/Bloomington

I thought this might be a good place to start...

Two friends of mine and I are learning more and more about photography and thought it would be fun to take a Saturday Safari to an old farm or similar location to practice. Part of it for the whole cliche of abandoned farm equipment and then just the adventure part of it.

Any ideas?

Before ya get flamed for asking,I'll just recommend that you get in your car and drive around. Keep your eyes open and you'll find what you're looking for.

As obvious as that sounds, yeah, seconded.

I couldn't believe how many places I began seeing after I became interested in UE...I mean, I'd always known about the old abandoned house in the countryside, but after I got into UEing, I'd drive past it and think "There's that old house agai - oh wait..."

Best advice is just to get out there and take a cruise down some back roads that you don't know where they lead to.

Oh... I'm sorry... I...

Yeah. I should have known better. I guess what I was more or less trying to say without coming out and saying it -- I don't think these two ladies are up for the adventure and "whatif's" of getting caught. I was more hoping for someone who knew of one down the road that was friendly/safe.

You guys are right though -- I need to do the legwork myself. I was just looking for leads.

hit up some county highways, and keep an eye out on the horizon. its that easy. i probably see 3-4 new place's every day as a truck driver. i actually take different routes as often as possible. problem right now is the corn is pretty high, and hide's alot.

once winter comes, you can find stuff that you have been driving past for years. its sad how once you actually look, you discover how much has been so close for a very long time.

Its the midwest. Put 20 bucks worth of gas in the car, grab your favorite CD (better take 4 or 5) and hop on the state route or county road of your choice, your bound to find something eventually. Take your camera and even if you don't shoort anything that day, note the location, spec it out and come back. You'll get way more out of the experience if you discover it for yourself.

oh, and remember we like pictures that have pretty girls in them!

Good luck man, have fun and be safe.

If you're in Bloomington you might as well check out the Valley Fair ruins..

Some girls should just be happy they were invited to the prom..

Maybe look for it on here. If you know what road it's on, try "Hybrid" view. If you think there was more to see twenty years ago or need detail where satellite falls short, try "DOQ".

This is one of my favorite exploring tools.
Have fun.

I'm sure The Jeep Pilot meant Peoria Illinois, not Peoria MN (or Peoria Road MN. Whatever...)

Peoria, IL: http://mapper.acme...-89.53068&z=12&t=H

That is a neat tool. Thanks.
