Buildings disappear fast

We just had two buildings that shut down not too long ago in the area that were mighty old. We were going to leave them alone a while to see how life played out for 'em, and it ended all too quickly. Just last week they were cleared out for a new shopping development. Lame.

Anyone else let something slip right through your fingers?

Honestly, what else can you do with a massive brownfield like a steel plant? I'm not the biggest fan of Casino's but a massive steel museum is likely to end up like Autoworld.

damn those money hungry assholes, cant they just leave some places alone.
at the very least spend some money restoring the old building, instead of putting up some new cardboard and concrete playhouse, that will last ten years before it has to be torn down as well.

little known fact, if you shake the sprinkles at the bottom of a doughnut bag while exploring, youll actually be cought by cops faster

I hate watching places get destroyed. My local favorite, Haverford State, is about 95% demolished. Out of 17 original buildings, only the main building and boiler plant remain undestroyed.

Bethlehem Steel

Most of the one in Lackawanna is still standing, for now, if you're interested...

I was watching a church that had been standing since God was a baby and stupid me figured it would be there for a long time yet. Wrong! Someone purchased it and began to carefully remove the stained glass. Me thinks I better get moving on this one. I get in and get some nice pics of the remaining stained glass and bell tower. I accidently cleared the wrong memory card and lost the whole lot of them. Ok dumbass....Well there is a ton of other cool stuff in there yet, I will catch it in a day or two. I mean geez the place is pretty much wide open now. I wait 3 days instead of 1 or 2, go back and it's poof gone. What a nice parking lot.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

A fried of mine lives there - at LEAST they are still keeping the blast furnaces in tact. but building a casino is not a solution to ANY problem, unless your problem is that you want to quickly ruin the already poor economy of a small city, and make it worse than it was.

I would not say we are loosing all those places, many of them are being renovated to ensure they stay standing for years to come. Sure they are not going to be a UE playground anymore, but they are being saved and reused. That is infinitely more important.

A few of those "sum ups" are not 100% accurate, but that's really a moot point.
That is how it works, can't control it so don't dwell on it. Everyone just needs to make it a point to stay ahead of the wrecking ball. Make places that are in danger of Demolition and places that are about to be refurbished a priority if you want to see them abandoned.
