Okay, kinda the opposite of "urban exploration" but I LOVE old houses and barns just the same...

Went out today to 3 empty houses, a depot, 5 barns, a silo, and a sidewalk. Oh and Route 66. Here's some of the pics, and one of my favorite poems..

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening (Robert Frost)
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Also where the sidewalk ends...

Get your kicks on old Route 66...

Interesting Orb...

Nice shots, I've done some of my most fun exploring while doing "RE"

Ever climbed to the top of a grain silo?

Actually we used to rent a farm house down the road from one of these empty houses. We had a silo in the back yard that my cousin and I climbed and went in one winter and we "swam in the corn". Fun times. =)

I ~heart~ rural exploration, too. And I would LOVE to see old segments of Route 66... someday I plan to travel and find all the remaining bits. Where was your Route 66 pic taken?

The premier Route66 site on the Internet.

I like rural exploring too - I grew up in the sticks and there is always interesting stuff out there if you know where to look.

You've got some great finds. One of my first explorations was some a farmhouse and some stables. I love the rural stuff and always will!

The Rt 66 pics were taken just South of Dwight, IL. THe old side is still intact from Dwight on south (not sure for how far).

Nice pictures. I've just recently gotten into the rural exploration. So interesting to see older houses, some that seem frozen in the time that the house was last lived in. So much history.

Nice pictures. Sometimes Rural Explorations can yield just as much cool stuff as urban explorations. A lot of times you get more personal finding a lot more houses with remnants laying about. This is a really cool pic:

I think there are some better aspects to Rural vs. Urban, but I love them both.

Rural is fun, but there ain't no substitute for the rush you get at a half active mill or brewery in the middle of a city.

This is also true, but with rural you are more likely to find something that has not been shot 100 times. The one thing I dont like about rural is the lack of industry and factory buildings.

Yeah, farms and cabins get real boring after about 10 mins.
