Second UE ever........ cops were called :(

One of my friends told me about an abandoned house nearby, so Wood Post and myself decided to check it out today. We parked about a quarter mile down the road from it, in an auto parts store on a major highway. We walk down to where the house is, and start poking around outside. We set up our tripods, when a squad car drives by. We thought nothing of it, but 10 seconds later a Black dodge durango pulls up, and two undercover police officers step out of their cars. They proceed to tell us that they received a call from _______ automotive, saying that two kids (we're both adults, albeit recent ones ;)) parked in their lot, got out with backpacks and walked off. He asked us what we were doing there, we explained to them that we were simply taking some pictures to add to our portfolio. They looked at our IDs, told us not to go inside, and left. We figure we could wait a half hour to make sure that they didnt swing around again, then head inside. By coincidence or not, the owner drives by, pulls a U'y and parks. He then proceeds to question us about our business, and asks us to leave.

I know this is not major, but it is a bit unnerving as this is only the second time I've been out. I'm planning to go to Lambertville High School tomorrow (i guess later today lol) and check it out. My question to you is, has anyone that has been there had any problems with police in that area? I'm a bit sketchy after todays happenings.

Always be watching when you park on someone else's property. I'll usually park and scope out the area for 5 minutes before i leave my car to see if anyone is watching.

Now, I'm a bit new to this myself, and also lacking a car, but...

Park somewhere a bit more inconspicuous. Active businesses are a bad call.

Vague, sure, but the point is made.

I've had my run ins with jonny law as well, usually the cops are pretty cool but the land owners near sites can be total pricks. It sound like you have the nack for handling cops which is a good thing.

My advice is gennerally,

Hide your car if you can

or park in a restraunt parking lot or... any other establishment that pays minimum wage.

Don't be too frazzed, it's not really a big deal but I under stand why you'd be a little tenative.

I think you know this but a camra and art cradentials are usually a ticket out of trouble.

Keep exploring.

take care,

parking in a small business' lot
isn't a great idea, they often notice
who's using their lot. larger
businesses care a lot less (big box stores).

getting the hang of where to park
is, in my opinion, a big part of
not getting caught.

Lambertville eh? I heard it's being watched pretty well, and in pretty crappy shape anyway. Lemme know how that goes... I heard it's not even worth the trouble anymore.... Where in NJ you from? PM me kid.

yeah, dude has a point.
if you're getting your locations out of
Weird NJ magazine, stop right now.
Everyone remotely near these locations
are piqued to hell and are on the lookout
for curious youngens.

Yeah, Lambertville is watched heavily by the neighbors and some guy that owns a pizza shope down the road (who will call the cops), not to be a party pooper, but chances are you are going to get caught at the Lambertville... and the cops, they will have no problem charging you with trespassing. You should start out with something simpler and away from the general public's eyes... and a place that is definitely not in Weird N.J.

every teenager with nothing to do
goes to check out these published
locations. the locals are sick of
it and will assist it spoiling
you efforts.

seek out someone who's willing
to help you find more off-the-
beaten path places to check out.

The majority of the locations in Weird N.J. have been publicized alot. Therefore police can often be-found at these locations looking for the unsuspecting trespasser to fine. Locations that are not in Weird N.J. are less likely to be watched over by neighbors and police. Chances are if the abandoned place has been vandalized to shit and is located in New Jersey, it was/is most likely featured in Weird N.J.

So you got caught. I am sure it will probably happen again if you continue to UE. Just learn from that experience and move on. I am not being a jerk, some of my best trips resulted in getting caught or questioned. Then again never ticketed but there is always the next time.

Thats weird...I posted this already but it got lost. In any case...

Troof. I put a lot of thought into where I park. It's definitely a key thing. I would rather park further away and move through woods or somewhere I won't be seen than park close. The approach is probably the most key part.

I think what tipped you off was the store employee or manager saw you park, put on backs, and abandon your car, so the cops were looking for someone of your description, and they found you at the house.

I don't know why the owner showed up. Maybe he lives nearby and a squad car draws more attention than just people walking around. At least you didn't get too busted. Just be careful where you park and try not to bring backpacks. That tends to draw attention to yourself, for some reason.

I'm not even from NJ and I"ve heard about Lambertvile High for years. A shot of it was even used in the documentary film about Walmart and it's on many websites. I first heard of it from Abandoned NJ.

well the cops will know about it.. shh.. can you hear them??
they're here now,,. LOOK THE FUCK OUT... oh wait Im not breaking any laws
what do I care, but seriously

One cop might care, another won't

Either way you break the law and both will probably arrest you
taking picture of run down homes isn't all that serious an offence.. Im sure there are worse things they could be tending to..

still sux to be Caught tho.. lol

I will defeat that which was once untouchable only so that I may now move on

So my seven day grace period is finally up!! It took forever. Now that I can post I can put my side of the story on this.

First, I'm not an adult yet. I have to wait until October for that. Not too long though/. And I actually did that talking despite what Juicebox may have made it sound like. So I take credit for not being busted, even though we weren't doing anything illegal, surprisingly.

Here are the pictures I managed to grab before we were booted off the property.
