My first UE experience (sort of.)

First off, apologies to anyone expecting pictures. This is more of a "call to arms" of sorts with a mini-story, since I suck at storytelling.

So, tonight, I decided to take my first dive into urban exploration. I headed to a water treatment facility (I'll refrain from naming it openly,) which is about a 20 minute walk from my house. I was met, luckily, with a fairly simple entry point, after a few minutes of searching. Unless you count the brush, which was a royal pain in the ass (how many fucking thornbushes can find their way into jush one area? Too many is the answer.)

Anyways, I mostly got to scout out the area initially (this place is active, with cameras, or so the claim is) and get a look at the outskirts of the facility. What I'm looking for now is someone to go back with, possibly grab some pictures, and go a bit further into the facility with me. Preferably someone with a bit of prior experience in the art who doesn't mind going along with a bit of a noob to the whole thing. This would be a night mission (I started my scouting at about 1:30 AM) and stealth would be a must, but it looks as if it's pretty big and could provide some great shots and exploration potential. Human presence on-site at night seems to be completely absent or minimal at best. In the long run, I'm just looking to go back with anyone interested who has a camera and a desire for a bit of an adventure.

So, is anyone interested? Comments, anything, I don't care - I'll answer questions to the best of my ability, but I'd love some serious inquiries into a return.

welcome aboard. Unfortunatly I may be too far upstate to be any help for you. It sounds like your doing a fairly ambitious site, it's probably not a bad idea to benifit from some one elses experience. Just my two sence. don't be afraid to start small and work your way up the risk ladder.

Good luck, and the next time i'm in RI I'll say hello.

I would try something easier and something that wont land you terrorism charges for your first exploration.

Agreed. Active water treatment plants carry a stiff penalty if you are caught.

Any details?

It would seem as if quite a few people before me have been through here to some extent. My entry point seemed a bit too convenient, for one, and I stumbled on quite a bit of litter along the way - which was kind of depressing, actually.

If only I didn't lose the damn flashlight...

If I lived in RI I would be right there with you man, but alas, WV here.

But I do have to comment on this post. It is so refreshing to see someone new to exploring introduce themselves like this. You found a place on your own, took the time to go check it out yourself, then logged on and let us in on what you found and invited others to join you for a proper explore. There was no asking for handouts. I know you don't know how big this is, but you will in time. You made a top-notch fist impression and trust me with this crowd, that is not easy.

Welcome to UER, I can already tell you will be one of the better members on here.

First off, thanks for the commentary, Maypost, I was glad to read that. ;)

Secondly, Poetic, I'm actually looking for someone to check out an old loading dock/warehouse area in downtown Providence. If you're interested, drop me a line. I've been eyeing this place for some time now, and I'll do some work on scouting if you like. Regardless, drop me a line if you feel up to it and I'm sure we can work something out.

Also, call me crazy, but I've always had a habit of skipping ahead and starting big. I suppose this is a good example.

Hey again turrel
you know, I'm not too sure about this place exploring-wise... for me personally anyway (I recently broke a toe and I actually can't run, crazy huh?) but that other place you were talking about in your other thread... totally down for that. I work at Prov Place so I take that off-ramp that runs behind the building every day. The police have set up speed traps right next to the gate at least 5 days a week, so that kind of sucks but I really doubt there would be any other issues there. Every day something else gets thrown out a window.

Anyway, I live in Attleboro and I know of lots of other great places in our area that I'm sure you'd love. We should definitely plan something out, hey? PM me!

Will definitely send a PM your way. Just need to get a new mag (lost the only one available in the brush the other day, ugh) and look into the area a bit to see if there's even a plausible way into the place. Wouldn't want to call you out to it only to be turned back, but, hey, that's your call, I suppose.

Anyways, out of curiosity, what store do you work at?

Be careful with any sort of active infrastructure. I work as a civil engineer in public works, and one of the first things in the new employee training was to call the cops first and ask questions later if we see anything remotely suspicious. And people take it seriously. I got picked up once by the cops, on the job where I was supposed to be.... ID set it straight, but its an example of how likely people at these facilities are to call the cops on someone they do not recognize.
