| | | Av will probably just have some savvy comment about how my computer and connection are out of date, but I may as well mention this anyway. When I am browsing the forums, there will be frequent times that I click a link and it takes several minutes before it goes anywhere, even though the little "N" thing in the upper right has the comets going around it, so I know it's thinking. I generally click the link again, but it will just keep thinking and not going anywhere. During this time I will sometimes open a new tab and go to a different site to check if my connection is ok. The other sites load fine, and I can generally get the things done that I need to do on them before the UER thing does anything at all. It usually gets slow when I am trying to post or make a new thread. Then after a few minutes I'll click again and it will work, but later it will do it again.
Oh yeah, Windows 98 and Netscape 7.01 and a cable modem.

| | | once the page loads, look at the "page generated in" number at the bottom. this number indicates how long between the time the server received the initial request, and when it finished putting the data together and began sending the page to you. if the number is small (less than 400), this indicates a problem with your connection or it's quality... -av

Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

| | | I've been getting a lot of time-out errors recently, though, both with my home cable connection, and my work wireless connection. Has something been going on server-side over the last couple of days? C.

| | | I thought of that, Av, but the page doesn't generally load until after about the third or fourth click (usually about 5 or 6 minutes after the first try) and then everything will work normally again. I guess I'll just live with it.

| | | There could be a server between you and Av that's eating packets. Have you run a traceroute, Crossfire or Chud? If it is that, it should clear up in a few days as the internet heals itself.

| | | I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't think the internet can heal itself... it's not alive.

| | | If you're using Windows, open up a DOS prompt and punch in "tracert uer.ca" without the quotes. Let it go until it stops, then post it here. You understimate the internet. Something doesn't have to be alive to heal itself.
