| | | Posted by micro Not that I was able to attend either event, but it seems as though NOPEX embodied the spirit of exploration and discovery far more than this year's OPEX did. Maybe it's just because you had more time, but it's cool to see that it actually involved some places that were likely new for everyone involved.
|
Too bad you had to try and start shit here also. You did not attend either one so keep your comments to yourself.

| | | Well, she does have a point. I don't think it's fair to anybody to judge an event with another one, considering you weren't there for either one.

| | | The funny thing is, NOPEX was so successful because of the complete lack of attendance. For the majority of the time the group was a mere 8 explorers for the exception of the first weekend with 12 explorers and the mill in Smooth Rock Falls with 4 explorers. If NOPEX had received a few dozen explorers god knows how different the event would have turned out.

| | | I couldn't agree more Boffo. The more people who come, the worse NOPEX will be, at least from an exploration standpoint. 8 was a good number.

| | | Agreed. It's not an event that large numbers of explorers could come to and expect to be able to swarm locations without consequence.

Or with the stupidity that can go unchecked at larger events. I think it was successful because it was a small group. The only question I have is....are all the people who attended friends with one another...? [last edit 8/15/2007 2:36 AM by Air - edited 1 times]

Most of us, yes. Myself, Boffo, Taco and Wu already knew each other before UE. The rest of us met each other through previous explorations. Southern Ontario explorers are fairly well-connected with one another though, anyway. It's like bringing down the 6 degrees of separation to 1 or 2. The Path Less Travelled was new to the group. I'd like to see more newcomers next year.

Ryan and I were almost there. Sort of, lol. We were actually IN Sudbury, on the first Saturday there. (Just not under UE pretenses, unfortunately. ) We stopped by the Big Nickel at around 4:00, just to see if any early birds had shown up... Just to say hi or whatever. *shrugs* I had to be in North Bay that Saturday evening, to do some promotional & organizational work. (I work with a pro wrestling company. Don't laugh. We had a show this past weekend in North Bay. [Video available on your friendly neighbourhood Magnoodles YouTube channel thing.]) Glad to hear y'all had such a wicked time. Even though the "selfish bastard" side of me is more than a little jealous, lol. Wish we coulda joined in on the fun. Just wanted to say thanks to Arc, for all her work in putting everything together... I appreciate it, even though we couldn't come out to play. BUT... Next year for sure. Priority Numero Uno!

I still feel bad about not helping you guys set up the tarp, or the tent while it was pissing with rain out. But I was in pain that night and I at least donated a raincoat and head lamp to the cause......... Also the whole water & acid thing.

After meeting so many armchair wrestling guys, I'm happy to say its nice to meet a professional/pro wrestler. Shame we couldn't all meet up for the whole week, it really would have been interesting.
