| | | Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park < on 7/23/2007 9:01 PM >
| | | I am getting ready to go to the beach this upcoming weekend and was wondering if anyone has checked out the newly abandoned Pavillion amusement park in Myrtle. It was open for 53 years and had one of the first main attractions in myrtle, it also featured an old all wood rollercoaster. I know that they tore down the rollercoaster a few years ago, but everything else is still there. Its right in central myrtle beach just off a block from the shore. If anyone is in the area this upcoming week let me know. Hopefully it will be interesting and I will have some good pictures to post.

| | | I'll be in that area next week as well, but I don't know if I'll have a chance to explore any or not. PM me if you want to try to meet up.

| | | I don't know if you've seen it lately, but I have a feeling it's all gone now. I was down there in March and the only thing left was the rollercoaster and a few unrelated outbuildings, and they were working busily every day dismantling it. I wanted to get in there myself and photograph it before it was gone, but it was locked up pretty tight and I didn't have time. I did check out an abandoned hotel and a mini golf course while I was down there; there's always something abandoned at the beach (but watch out for hobos!). I'd love to see pics if you do go, though! Wait, are you going this weekend, as in tomorrow? Or next weekend?

| | | Ahhh I hope they haven't bulldozed it yet, that would suck. I know that it was still open last summer and and in existance as of this spring, but I guess ill keep my fingers crossed. And yes i will be leaving this sunday and staying for a week (or close to it) at Holdon beach, but ill be making trip or two to myrtle.

| | | Aw crap, guess I found this thread too late...if it was next weekend I might try to tag along. Even if it's gone, there's plenty of abandoned stuff at the beach. I was only there for one day (whirlwind trip!) and I found a hotel and minigolf place, like I said. If it was the off-season it'd be even more fun.

| | | Well i was staying in Holdon Beach which is pretty sparse, so there was nothing there. I only went into myrtle once for a very short time so most of my time was spent in the ocean swimming kayaking and trying to surf, not much exploration but a good vacation.
