Sweet set, and I like the title... The Dead Flag Blues from Godspeed you Black Emperor? "It went like this... the buildings toppled in on themselves."

"The time of getting fame for your name on its own is over. Artwork that is only about wanting to be famous will never make you famous. Fame is a by-product of doing something else. You don't go to a restaurant and order a meal because you want to have a shit."

1) I dont really like the composition, the fountain is to far to the bottom right.

2) I quite like this shot. My favourite from the group.

3) It could be improved by cropping the window straight and possibly by moving some of the stuff on the floor out of shot.

4) It feels like my attention is being spit between the two signs with lots of dead space between them. The lower board is the more interesting so perhaps concentrate on that section and reduce the amount of space around it as the subject.

5) Seems boring really.

6) Is pretty good, Though a little bland.

3) Moving stuff out of the shot? THere's probably a whole thread about wether to move stuff or not. I don't! And i don't think it's necessary. If you straighten this shot it's a nice one!

5 & 6 are great shots to add some vignetering. I think...

I was going to say almost exactly the same thing. I'm really wishing I had my GY!BE albums here right now.

Also: what kind of post-processing do you usually do with your photos?

---
EDIT: The post processing question is for the OP.

I absolutely adore that band. And I have made a point of listening to F#A# when driving up to Gilman, it's perfect for it.

As for post, I don't have to do much, but I adjust for contrast (i like my images contrasty), saturation (usually added slightly), and once in a while exposure if i have to. I shoot in RAW, and edit with CS3.

My camera is actually pretty good with giving me what I want. 2 through 5 are untouched.

As to moving things around in the shot, I don't. I shoot what is there, whether it was left there by the previous occupants (like the jacket and the chalkboard) or not. If I bring things into a shot, like tealights, then that's fair game. Maybe that's due to my background as a journalist.

Thanks! I appreciate the explanation. I'm still pretty green as a photographer, so when I find work I like, I try to find out the "talent:equipment:post-processing" ratio.

I particularly like #2. That it's untouched is impressive. Nice work.
