City of Toronto update on Union Station work

On Wednesday, June 27, Councillor Gloria Lindsay Luby, Chair, Government
Management Committee and member of Union Station Revitalization Public
Advisory Group, Councillor Pam McConnell, member of the Union Station
Revitalization Public Advisory Group, and Councillor Doug Holyday, member
of the Union Station Revitalization Public Advisory Group, will update the
media and interested parties on the work that is and will be taking place
at Union Station over the next year.

The City continues to commit to projects at Union Station to keep the
station safe, functioning and in good repair.

Date: Wednesday, June 27
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Location: Union Station, Great Hall, in front of the west wing window

The media will get an update on the work that has taken place recently and
what is planned for the coming months, and they will get a tour behind the
scenes of the recently restored west wing window and skylight.
The $3
million project wrapped up in May with the skylight and west wing window
being restored to their original function and beauty.

Toronto is Canada's largest city and sixth largest government, and home to
a diverse population of about 2.6 million people. It is the economic
engine of Canada and one of the greenest and most creative cities in North
America. In the past three years Toronto has won more than 50 awards for
quality and innovation in delivering public services. Toronto's government
is dedicated to prosperity, opportunity and liveability for all its
residents.

3 million to clean a window and make it open again? I think they were ripped off.

I was in there last week and wasnt stunned by the fantastic changes. The tunnel construction down by the north east end was a bit intriguing though.

How the hell does it cost $3 million to clean a window?

Wow, 50 cents US is like almost 3 dollars Canadian!

Actually, the Canadian dollar is now worth about USD95¢.

In other words, a US payphone call costing USD¢50, would cost a visiting Canadian CAD53¢.

Yup up....by the end of the year, I can guarantee you, that the US and Canadian dollars will be 1:1; something that hasn't happened since the 1976 Montreal Games!
