This is the 'summer' house of lila Camp, she was the heir to the camp fortune. her father started camp paper, now known as international paper. she died and is buried in the graveyard at the house. her husband is in the hospital dying. the house is temporarily abandoned. they had a housekeeper in the 'out house', who recently left. the place was recently mowed, but noone's there............except the guy farming the land.....
it's quite excentric...she build a new 'crappy' addition to one of the oldest houses in the usa. the graveyard has the oldest readable gravestone in the usa.

one room....30x40 was just for her old dresses.
two kitchens.
fireplace inserts were being removed.
the old part of the house is nice and worth preserving,
THE PARt the old lady built is crap.......wrap around porch, etc.
FANTASTIC VIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
boat access is the best.
the basement is from the colonial period and may have artifacts
buried in the sand in the basement fireplace.....you'd have
to see it to understand....

Sounds interesting, what's the date on the gravestone? I thought the oldest were in MA.

MA=Mass
ME=Maine

I remember seeing gravestones in Salem from the 1600's. If I get down in gloucester I'll have to check it out.
