I passed by what looked like an empty milk plant yesterday in St.George. No camera to take pictures though, sorry.

It's nice to see another explorer from Cambridge.

I actually noticed that factory recently. It is indeed abandoned. It's Parmalat. I walked around it taking several scouting photos. There has been some minor vandalism. the doors appear to all be locked and/or boarded up. The roof is easy to access.

It may be a coincidence, but just as I was driving down the road after scouting the building, a police cruiser flew by me with its lights on.

There are neighbouring houses on either side of Parmalat. Part of the building is older. It says "Malcolm Consending Company Limited" near the top.

Thanks phrenzee, that's the plant I saw. I hav'ent really UE'd anything. I am more of an abandonment observer. I notice a lot of them. The Royal downtown is obvious. Nobody will ever get in there. There is a guard parked there at night. I guess they don't want the bums to move back in. There is also another weird building up on Beverly St. It looks sort of like a church, with a green shamrock on it. It never seems to be in use.

Today also, I was in between Milton and Oakville on Hwy 25. There has to be at least 10 empty houses. As well as the school for the deaf in Milton might be empty. There were signs about demolition.

I wonder if thats the same Parmalat Plant I was dragged out too (more than once) only to fail at entering several times in the 2004/2005 period.

As Oakville expands north and Milton expands south the houses become derelict as developers purchase more and more land. There's so many freaking abandoned houses out here that I just don't have the time or motivation to explore them.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

I imagine the place on Beverly Street that you mentioned is this:

Thanks for the info about the deaf school in Milton. I'll have to check it out.

The School for the Deaf in Milton is still very much active! I live right behind it, in fact my mom's a teacher there.

They're not closing any time soon.

Please do not attempt the EC Drury School for the Deaf.

*Edit*

The demolition signs were for the Old Martin House part of Allendale, it's gone now: http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=24606

Phrenzee, this is the place I meant. I think it's a girl guide hall.

Not on Beverly, I was wrong. One street over. You'll know what I mean.

I checked out the Girl Guides building today. Thanks for the info BTW. It is actually located at 37 1/2 Wellington St., just past the end of Beverly.

In spite of the graffiti, including the standard tagging by CIA and the presence of a homeless man who had temporarily taken up residence in the parking lot, I believe that this building is still active (grounds somewhat maintained, good roof, current internet listing, electricity connected, etc.)

For the pics or it never happened crowd:

While looking for parking in a neighbouring church, I found this small building (it may be accessible from the rear [as are many of us I suppose;)]

Sorry for the bogus exploration. I've always noticed it as being unused. This is "Urban Exploration" right? Checking out your town. BTW I have seen the CIA graffiti a lot, even on the way into Kitchener past the hwy 8, King St. split off. Also, on a trailer by the Dickson bowling alley.

Cambridge has a lot of interesting abandonments, unused places, etc. Will have to get the camera out more.

In the paper the other day a lady was talking about a trail behind GCI as being trashed. Never knew it was there.

By the way guys,

I've noticed a couple of cool ghosttowns within the T dot. Of course no camera. i.e. Britannia in Streetsville 5-10 houses, and Sheppard between Allen and Bathhurst also 5-10 houses.

There are tunnels underneath the School for the Deaf, though. The plain ol' regular EC Drury is on the north part of the campus or whatever; but the cafeteria is a separate building, connected to the deaf school to the south. (Which I'm sure you're aware of, considering your proximity, lol.) At lunch--back in the day--my friends and I used to wander around down there. There's a big freight elevator that'll take you down. Found a padded room... That was creepy. The whole place had quite a creepy... "aura" about it? ANYway, we got busted once; asked what we were doing down there. So I just said we were looking for Mrs. Kearney (who was the principal at the time), and politely bullshitted my/our way out of it, lol. Never got to see the full extent of everything that's going on down there, though... I wonder how extensive it actually is?

The Tunnels run across the entire campus. Out to the old Power Building (which is now used for Bus storage.

Again I reiterate, do not attempt entry. I was talking to some old teachers of mine this summer and they're beefing up security and anyone not recognized will be stopped by a teacher an a valid Student ID will be asked. If not, they will call the cops. There were some incidents last year.

Yeah, that's just the nature of the world, in general, nowadays. It's unfortunate. But obviously "security" at a school is something that just cannot be taken lightly. The world is a shitty place sometimes, with shitty people. There were no motion detectors in the hallways, back in the day, when I went there: After-hours, and in the summer, we were able to get into the health rooms upstairs in the sports building. (It was SO ridiculously easy, it'd make your head spin, lol.) So sometimes, we'd just go up there and chill on the weekends, late at night, lol. It was like our own little private condo! And we'd clean up after ourselves and leave everything completely neat and tidy; just 'cause we didn't want to arouse suspicion... Wanted to be able to keep going back again, you know? But ah well... Days of being able to do cool stuff like that anywhere are long gone.

I do believe that those houses in streetsville have been emptied due to a road expansion. A friend lived in one a few years back, nothing exciting.

There are 4-5 houses on Eglington in mississauga, by the credit river, that are empty due to a re zone.
