Ann arbor, MI

I live in Ann Arbor, and I'm looking for places to explore here. Is there anyone else from Ann Arbor here? I'm new to UE, but here's what I've found so far:

http://maps.google...5021&t=h&z=18&om=1
A drain that you can crouch through (between the south sidewalk and the road), I only went about 10 meters because it is wet and full of huge spiders.

http://maps.google...2656,0.005021&z=18
A really good church, no security, doors almost always unlocked. In the basement there's an electric/water room which I found unlocked.

http://maps.google...2656,0.005021&z=18
Probably a drain, watch for the Mallets Creek sign, the river is there. I'm not sure yet, will try going there today or tomorrow.

Ann Arbor comes up a lot, for whatever reason... use the search button to your left.

industrial building in Ypsi at East Forest and Norris St
one old farm off of ridge road, about a mile south of Cherry Hill Rd

I guess i depends on which side of ann arbor you live in

Wow, I think that prison had been modernized. I'm trying to remember the name of it. Anyway, that'd be a way cool place to explore. It's been 5 years since I was last in Michigan, & I know that general area was booming in terms of new residential subdivisions, but maybe that old prison will be vacant long enough for people to document it.

That building in Ypsi at E. Forest & Norris is the old Motor Wheel Corp. casting plant. I think they closed it in the late 1990s.

By the way, to the W of it a little on Huron River Drive was a large, windowless brick building that had a painting of the Statue of Liberty on the W side of it.

It was a bar/nightclub called "Liberty's" in the mid-1980s that lots of EMU students used to get totally wasted at, then stagger back to their dorms. I'm trying to remember what name it operated under before Liberty's... It shut down (way too many liquor law violations I expect) sometime around 1986 or so, and seemed to sit unused since I last saw the place around the early 2000s.

Back in the day, it was mostly open space inside -- the bar on the N end, dance floor (plastic with multicolored lights below!) on the S side, and then lots of seats & tables in between. I left lots of my DNA in that place...

I'm an annarborite
Unfortunatley I dont know of many good places
I've heard that the UofM Steam Tunnels are a good place to explore
I was walking by the Frezeer building the other day, and thought it would be cool to go there but it looks very unsafe and gaurded.

One of my friends [basil] is on here he knows some good places
Ask him

Never mind the third one, it was a tunnel that the river goes through under the road.
I have explored the church, it's a small one, and the best thing I found there is the electricity room underneath. It has a circuit breaker, some kind of buzzing machine, a lot of pipes, and a switch connected to a pipe which reads "To drain baptism" and some instructions on what to do. The tunnel I mentioned, I went in it , but had to turn back because there was a deep, huge puddle (5 meters long) which blocked the way.

Here's another idea: the construction site for Skyline High School.

regarding the prison.....there are two of them.

the newer one is the Scott Womens Correctional Facility, on the NW corner of Five Mile and Beck

Then just west of that facility and on the south side of 5 mile is the old prison

I believe the property that the old prison isi situated on has been bought and is in the process of being rezoned for commercial and residential, so i dont know how much time is left for the prison....i have noticed though that most of the no tresspassing signs have been removed.

I did some campus rooftops in Ann Arbor a long time Ago. Not really hardcore exploring, more just chilling with friends while passing through.

The Ann Arbor Campus was pleasant. It made an impression on me.

Nice pictures btw. GJ!

It's been about a year, or more, but there's an abandoned/neglected motel in Ann Arbor on Jackson road(you can see it from I-94). I dont know the state today, but when I went, it was totally trashed. There were stripped cars next to the pool, and the pool was green and full of goldfish. A lot of windows were broken out in the motel rooms, lot of graffiti. Some of the rooms looked like they were squatted in, full of clothes and litter boxes. One room had a Bjork mural painted on the wall. Strange.

I wouldnt recommend it, because there was some activity between the trips I took there. But do walk around outside and look.
