Checked out the Muskoka Sanitorium in Gravenhurst on the long weekend for the first time. That place is amazing! I got some good exterior shots but the batteries on my camera died before we got far. We got a real scare when we went inside some of the houses on the property before you get to the actual sanitorium. Anyone who's been there recently will know what I'm talking about lol. Walked down to the shore from the front and walked up to the main buildings. Heard some lawnmowers going but didn't see anyone there the whole time. Got inside easily and explored most of the building. The whole place is soaked, and the mold growing in some places looks like squares of sod its so freakin green. I'll post the pictures I took when I find the cord for my damn camera. I seriously recommend anyone who's in Muskoka to check this place out. I know I'll definately be going back sometime soon!

Be warned . . .

There are about a dozen to two dozen police dogs on the premises for most of the year.

Wayne Jacklin, the OPP Canine Training/Program Coordinator (Staff Sergeant) almost lives at the Gravenhurst facility during the summertime.

The first basic handling course and handler selection course is underway on 3rd April finishing off on 21st July. The second training session starts August 28th and finishes off 16th December. As for the canine explosives detection course, and narcotics detection they are yet to be determined.

This was an UrbEx public safety announcement.

Wise counsel suggests you not reveal the exact time you visited this location nor which buildings you may have entered.

I'm going back to my nail-clipping collection now . . .

Listen to CopySix, he knows what he's talking about.

But on the flip side, it is a good location.

Thanks for the info Copysix, I saw the little obstacle courses they had set up and put two and two together and figured thats what they were for. Didn't hear any dogs the whole time, but I'll definitely keep an ear and an eye open next time I'm there.

Still working on getting these damn RAW and TIFF files small enough to post lol... They'll be up soon.

Anyways here's a few of the pictures I took before my batteries on my dslr ran out... Needless to say a lesson was learned. I'll get the pics from my point and shoot up later in the day. The quality's crap on these, but I couldn't pack any more quality into 100k

I havn't edited these at all yet. I'm completely new to this digital slr thing so I don't know how to mess with photoshop or these crazy RAW images hehe.

Is it just me or does that place just look worse and worse every time I see it.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.
