| | Popup windows caused huge prob.. Be advised < on 5/19/2007 2:38 PM >
| | | Hi Everyone, It's the rookie here. Before I say anything ... I am NOT NOT NOT accusing or pointing any fingers at anyone here -- you all seem like a decent group and I can't imagine anyone in this circle intentionally did this. It's more of a heads-up. The other day I was reading the thread about the amusement parks, opening up the pics and admiring them (on that note, it was a GREAT writeup.) Something somewhere started a chain of popups with some really nasty baggage behind it. Both my Norton's and AVG started flipping out saying that there were infected files and malicious, and my firewall reported MANY new programs asking for access. For some reason I remember one of the sites that popped up having a name like "volo" or something like that. Did anyone else have this happen? In the meantime... maybe turn your security to 11 and be careful out there. Again.. not an accusation but a heads-up.

| | | I think in order to be able to bring some resolve to the situation, you may have to be more specific. What it sounds like is there was a link posted which led somewhere else off this website to another website. If that is the case, there is not much anyone can do. Would you be able to post the link you followed which gave you trouble to this thread?

| | | I'm sorry... I tried and I can't. I just scoured through my history again and found nothing. I really wasn't expecting a solution, per se. It was just more of a "hey, remember to keep those virus scanners up to date" sort of message.

| | | Dude I had the same EXACT problem! And I was able to manually clean up most of it although now even when I dont have a browser open a bunch of random pop ups come up pertaining to whatever I put into my last google search. I immediately got Norton notifications while browsing the amusement park topic.
