| | Abandoned Missouri River bridge near Columbia, Missouri < on 5/7/2007 3:35 PM >
| | | One of the coolest places I've ever been is an abandoned Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad bridge over the Missouri River. It was built in 1931 and is the current subject of a lawsuit between the state of Missouri and the railroad company who wants to tear it down for the steel. The Bridge itself is of the old steel-truss kind, but what makes it cool is that the middle portion of the bridge can be raised or lowered.

Yeah, barges on the Missouri might be a quarter of a mile long but only come out of the water 20 feet.

Yeah that sounds great. Though right now, according to the news, the river is about to go into major flood stage. Its supposed to be a pretty bad flood. That might hinder our access a bit for a while.....though it could make for some great pics...

Hmmmm, I could swim out into the river......... Only problem is a barge would probably take about twice as long.
