no one said it had to be about abandoned buildings. But in my opinion "which may not mean much" taking pics of things and places that are actice is more or less like a guided tour attraction. Not to belittle anyone. just my opinion.

Word!!
These are "Urban Tourist" photos.
Especially since they are taken from public land.

I'm a train geek, so I liked them.

But "UE" photos, no.

That's not my call!!

They just appear to be shot from roads, parking lots, etc. Where are the interior shots?

I guess my thinking is that there is sooooooo much to see in Detroit... This is all you could do?

Nothing personal, just an observation.

detroit is a big area, i was with my friend and we were waiting for two ore carriers. they were not taken from public areas as they may seem. (with the exception of one picture) the interior shot was from the guardian building, my friend knows a security officer, so he took us up to the top floor. There is a decent amount of abandonment in detroit, if i would of had more time i would of defiantly done some UEing. i will be back later in the summer to do so

"Decent amount" may be an understatement!!!

You know how it goes around here, if you don't have a shot of peeling paint, you didn't UER the place!!

I agree! These may not be the most artistic shots in the world but they're a hell of a lot more interesting to look at than the over-processed typical paint peeling "everyones an awesome photographer" crap in the photography and critique forums.

Yeah, not bad.

The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave.

Personally, I like the one with the riverfront towers in the foreground and the ambassador bridge in the distance. It looks so skinny when viewing it from the side. I've never spent much time in the northern part of the downtown area, so it's a view I'm not used to.

Why do some people have to set such narrowly defined criteria for something that in essence is a "no boundaries" passtime. NIN34 went out and enjoyed the sights of and scenes of Detroit and shared them here.

Maybe it isn't as hardcore as exploring a long abandoned psychiatric hospital full of wooden wheelchairs out on the edge of town, but it's still what UE is all about in its most basic form... turning off the TV set (or leaving the message board slash chat room) and getting out of the damn house. ;)

thanks guys for agreeing. although its not a true UE like some would think, its not the "tourist" pictures either. i knew what i wanted to get pictures of while i was there. the picture from the guardian building wasnt planed tho. we went downtown to get some food, he wanted to show me the guardian building so we went in. its was really cool and the security guard took us to the roof.

anyway, thanks for likeing them. i was really happy with my shots from my trip. i might post some pics of the ore carriers later

Not everything has to be 'artsy'. Sometimes just taking pictures of what you find to share with others is whats important.
