Abandoned house in my neighborhood

HI guys,
I've been lurking silently for a while but figured I'd register to post pics I took of an abandoned house in the neighborhood I live in, I joined the Property Owners Association when they inspected the property after suspicions of vagrants living in (we've had problems with that here), there were no vagrants but there were alot of dead hornet all over inside, leading me to believe that it's been empty for a while. Someone mows the grass but I think he lives across the street.
Exterior Photos, you can see mismatched siding, windows, unfinished walls on the first floor, and trash around the yard

Interior photos, the first are of the first floor, a storage room and utility room, the third is off the rotting floor joists, the rest are of the living space on the second floor

Actually I'm here for the photography, I came with the poa to this house because I had seen it so often just sitting there and it's very different from most of the other houses in the neighborhood, which are manufactured. I was curious as to what the interior looked like. The man who built it lives next door, he said he sold it in 2004 to a New Mexico man named Daryl who used it as a vacation house, but he passed away a few months later and it sat empty. The last he heard he said that some young person owned it and wanted to rent it out but it required too much work, at the time this was done tax records showed it to still be owned by Daryl in New Mexico but they are slow to update...

Nice! Some of the rooms look still lived-in, don't they?

I imagine that the stuff left is/was Daryl's, the man next door said he'd come down fairly often with his dog and fish on Lake Conroe. It didn't look like most of the stuff had been touched since he died. He also said that some time ago the electric company had turned on the power and about a week later a very young person came by with his dad and looked around. He said he bought it to rent it out but it needs too much work, it has been left alone since. He couldn't remember what the guy's name was but that he was the nephew of Daryl's roommate, who presumably inherited the house after he died. I'll post if I find anything out, like who actually owns it, but for now it's been padlocked by the poa until the current owner can be found.

I love the places that look like someone just left. I always wonder why no family comes to clean up.

It's been a while since I've posted here but one of my friends who comes here regularly told me about this thread, it holds a special interest to me because I own this house, I did not know that this inspection even went on, when I was down there in Feb. everything was fine. I actually called the poa president and cleared it all up before posting my reply, he now has my contact info as well. Actually though, this house is not abandoned, I'm moving in to it in August/September, my Aunt owned it for a while and she sold it to me. I was going to renovate it for renting but (like previously stated), it needed to much work to do over a few weekends so I'm going to move in and do it.

....never thought I'd see my own house on one of these sites

Zachery, we might have to do a little research, but you very well may hold the prestigious award for the ONLY person to ever discover his own house has been explored and posted on UER.

It's a neat looking house. Wcdavid, welcome aboard and thanks for posting some pics for us.

It doesn't seem like a common thing, I can understand why they thought it was abandoned, my Aunt's Roommate, Daryl, who owned tis place, once he died it took nearly 2 years to settle his estate, until then it showed him to be the owner. In March they changed it to my Aunt and she sold it to me since she's in NM, I'm gonna move in around September and go to school down there. We never cleaned it up because most of the stuff there isn't Daryl's but Jim's (neighbor that built it), he sold it furnished. Also because we're 5 hours away and my Aunt's more like 10 or more. My dad and I were gonna clean it up in Feb. but once we discovered the rotting floor joists and termites (eek!) we figured it couldn't be fixed up to be rented in the time we had so we left it. I was gonna sell it but I just couldn't, in my heart I liked it too much, so I decided to move down there.

WCDavid, do you live on the same street?

Sorry to always be the one to burst everyones bubble but I think its been done.

At first it appeared Armed Geoduck was speaking in the rhetorical sense however a second comment would seem to reaffirm his assertion that indeed he did reside in the house that was the subject of that location entry.

It is left to the viewer to reach their own conclusion as to the veracity of his comments.

I stand corrected. Sorry Zachery, but apparently you were beat out for this prestigious award. I think you should still get an honorable mention though. 2X has been everywhere. There's no place left unturned. Man, you are the master of the south!! No doubt.

It's good that the owner was found and surprising that it was through here, and no, I don't live on the same street, I live on the adjacent street that begins with "M" (full name left out for security)
