Well duh that's what I already said! Bug spray WITH tick protection is your friend.

So why do you refuse to go back in, rather than go back with appropriate precautions?

They don't contract the disease until they have gone all the way through the skin if they have only gone half way through it takes about a full day before they get all the way in. They can't get any crap in your blood. I have only been bitten by one that went all the way through and that was a year ago and I have had no wierd signs or anything so I think I'm o.k.

I'd say that its definitely not a requirement to wear a respirator, as TomUE has demonstrated. I would say that if you have one then you should probably wear it though, just to keep nasty crap like mold, asbestos, and any other funky particulates that might be in there like bacteria and old flour out of your lungs. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it did have asbestos in there since I have seen that the concrete place less than a short walk away from there has it. Have fun, though. If you're interested in going then PM me and I'll go with you also. =) Good luck.

This place definitely has asbestos, It was built in early 1902!
The boiler room in the basement is probably the worst since the insulation materials are flaking off like crazy.
