| | | It was on the news today. Anyone been in this building? Kinda scary if you have... I know I wouldn't like to have that roof cave in when I was anywhere near that place. PM me if you don't know what I'm talking about.
"See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!" |

| | | Looks pretty severe, the King5 helicopter footage shows some nice closeups. Not much chance of a rebuild, that building has been on Tacoma's shitlist for a while. Sounds like it's demo time.

| | | http://www.komotv.com/news/6830462.html Building roof collapses in Tacoma Building roof collapses in Tacoma Story Published: Apr 2, 2007 at 11:11 AM PDT Story Updated: Apr 2, 2007 at 5:12 PM PDT By Keith Eldridge Watch the story TACOMA - A brick building that stood for decades all of a sudden came crashing down Monday morning. No one was hurt and some people are glad to see the building come down. The collapse happened around 10 a.m. at the building in the 1300 block of S. Fawcett Way. Nearby witnesses likened the collapse to an earthquake. Dolores Morrison/witness says, "(Friend) Mamie Lee told me 'did you feel that?' " said witness Dolores Morrison. "And I turned around and I saw a whole lot of dust and then the roof just caved in. It just came down." Everyone looked to the union hall next door, where a secretary came running out through the dust and debris. Her windows were blown out as bricks fell through her roof. "She was standing at the fax machine when the windows beside her blew out," said co-worker Leiter Hockett. "There was a big rush of dust through the building. Just a huge crash." Hockett was supposed to be in that office, too, but was away at a meeting. "The best thing out of all of this is that no one was hurt." That's because the entire building is vacant. It was a historic building, but it had fallen on hard times and was in disrepair and became an eyesore. The city called it one of its "Filthy 15." It's a list of buildings and homes the city wants fixed up or brought down. The sudden collapse is forcing the issue. "I think it needs to be knocked down because it's a hazard," Mamie Lee said. Right now, it's too unsafe for investigators to go in to figure out what happened and make sure no one was inside the boarded-up building. Deputy fire marshal Kevin O'Donnal says they don’t have a cause yet. “It looks like the roof was weak," O'Donnal said. "When a roof collapses like that, it'll typically pull the walls or some of the walls down because that's what is holding the roof up." It's a case of a once-proud structure that wound up on the 'Filthy 15' list and will soon be taken off as its pieces are hauled away. Tacoma says it's speeding up the permit process for the demolition to begin right away.

| | | Thanks for posting the info, I'm just trying to be careful not to post something I shouldn't. xD It's not good to piss people off within the first few days of joining the forum.

| | | This building was abandoned and had probably been deteriorating for a while. Any idea what this building used to be?
