Cruise Urbex?

Has anyone tried this? I'm going on one in 3 weeks or so, and I'm wondering if it's even worth it. Is there anything worth looking at on these boats?

Not really, unless you're on some ancient floating pile. The newer ships have cameras EVERYWHERE.

Would you happen to be stopping in Antigua? There are some interesting sugar mills back up in the hills.

I don't think that's quite the kind of cruise that PearlJam2112 was thinking of.

Actually, there was some fun exploring to be had on the last cruise I went on. The ship apparently had a bunch of crazy passageways going throughout the entire length of it. It looked like they were used by the crew so they wouldn't disturb the passengers. They lead to hidden doors in the walls of the theater, changing rooms, and were a cool shortcut to take if we needed to cross the ship. This was a Holland America boat and there were no cameras anywhere.

Back a few years ago I went on a few cruises and often found myself in places I shouldn't be. There were a few cameras, but not enough for people to really notice (just in major areas). There were some neat spots though, including some other decks that passengers could not sit out on and some stairwells leading to different rooms. Half the time the door to the crew area was open, so we just walked right in. Heck we even made it to the crews sleeping area. We did get caught though, just taken to the nearest exit and escorted out. Maybe now after 9/11 there could be more control over things, and if you are caught down in some of the places it might mean being thrown off. I didn't have a problem, but I was 14-16 at the time I believe.

I think all boats have those passageways, some are probably harder to get to though.

I did, but it was locked. On NCL boats, the fireworks locker is a heavily armored hatch accessible from one of the upper sun decks.

It may be a bit off topic although it is a boat.. There is an floating hotel in seattle I heard about it is an ancient steam paddle boat and although the boat is permanently anchored in the harbour it would be interesting to see the engine and other utility rooms.
