I hate to agree with Rick Perry about anything, But this should have been pased long ago. I know in the small towns in Texas the cops would justify a homeowner shooting someone threatening them. I have had a gun fired while UEing, but that cranky ass at least fired in the air before we got to the building.

God I love Texas! Now, if trespassers are encountered in California, they are offered a bean sprout and cream cheese sandwich with Lemon Grass tea, sat down in a comfortable chair and asked to relate to their crime and rehabilitate. I need to lose 15 lbs.

It's like that in a lot of places, including Texas on some issues. But, in the last couple of years, it seems like enough of us in Texas are getting pissed off and fed up with the bullshit that a few things are changing... a little.

We have always had a crime problem in Texas, like everywhere else. It just wasn't so prevalent before they made us stop the public hangings and the high voltage potty chair. Oh for the good ole days.

Hook 'em, book 'em, cook 'em. yeap.

End of story, and they wouldn't do it again.

I like that TX law. In PA we have a strong intruder protection law for the home owner, but it doesn't extent onto the outside. If it's justified such as the perk has a deadly weapon, no problem.

Inside the home however, I can do whatever it takes, including shooting them on sight even if they are unarmed.
You don't mess with someone in their home.
The legislators here agree. So do I.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

There are several issues that a lot of people are just getting fed up with. One of them is having to tolerate people breaking into our homes and vehicles. Political correctness is bullshit when someone is trying to rob my home or harm my family. I'm glad some states are beginning to tighten up a few things.

Once you had someone break-in a home or business with you there alone, and all you hear is breaking glass with no way of knowing how many or if they're armed, your thinking changes. At least it should.

In the end it was my challenge of:" Yo MFer, what f are you doing!" that made them run. My shit felt really weak, because it was weak.
Next time was at the GF's house and I was packing. Woke out of a dead sleep, leap over her and had a S&W 459 in my hand in less than 5 seconds.
My shit didn't feel weak, and in fact it wasn't. Night and day difference.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Being from Australia, and having lived in the UK, and lol, having ever only shot a gun at a pistol range, its weird the idea that ppl can just shoot you.

Kinda like the old Wild West never died.

But remember, it's not that people can "just shoot you". Believe me, if it was, I would take out half a dozen this afternoon.

It's that you can shoot someone who is breaking in your home WHILE you and your family are there. Something the bastard SHOULDN'T be doing in the first place, right?

Siologen is correct in that in the US we really are cowboys that do what it takes to get the job done.
It's a strange part of the American heritage; one that separates us from the rest of the "civilized" world.
We don't caudle to murders and crooks busting into our homes; we shoot them.

I rather like that.

And I predict that your going to see more laws of this sort across the US because frankly, most people are getting fed up with political correctness and "criminals rights". Fuck that. You want rights? Then be a good neighbor and act like a human being.

Don't forget our forefathers and the right to bear arms thing. We've been packing since the get go. I think Britain didn't like their minions armed-they might revolt or something. Like us! Seriously, I'm sick of this pc crap, it seems the criminals don't even get a slap on the wrist anymore-it's a pat on the back.

oddly enough the "old west" that you speak of never really happened. in most parts of the old west you were more likely to die of dysentery than gunfire. the old west was a pretty boring place, the penny dreadfuls on up to todays westerns have created an environment of violence that never really happened, so if someone says that too your town is going to become like the old west due to X legislation etc, get out your walker and checker board.

i remember a number of years ago when PA reformed it's concealed carry laws a local pgh democrat went on tv and practically screamed about how the old west was coming to pa and blood would run in the streets if the immoral gun owners got their way.........oddly enough the gun owners were the majority of the voters in the state. other than the socialist paradise of philly, the state is pretty calm and pleasant.

on another note, the pol's in philly have been blaming everyone else in the state for their crime rate and are trying to violate the state's preemption law and pass their own local bans. from what i hear from some of the legislators they are about to get a serious slapping down.

I agree. The old west was not what it is portrayed as being. And neither are most citizens who own guns. I honestly have no idea where this crap got started - the political thinking that if you take all the guns away from the good guys, that crime and murder rates will fall and all will be well. Fucking DUHHHHHH!!!

I mean it's really not that much of a mental stretch to figure out that the law abiding citizens are NOT the ones committing the crimes in the first place. And it would do nothing to take guns out of the hands of the criminals. They WILL still have guns. Always.

I am very much sick and fed up with political correctness. If you don't like me, or something else, that's fine. Just have the balls to say it and then we'll move on. All this "walking on eggshells" worried that we're going to offend someone is getting absolutely stupid. If you offend me, I shouldn't let it wreck my life. So what? I REFUSE to give that kind of control of my life to other people. And that's all it amounts to. I'm offended at political correctness. Can I sue someone? Will the ACLU step in for my cause, to defend my offended-ness?

And as a side note... if you want to come to America, like most of our ancestors did, then come. But come here, by the rules that the people of this country have established, live by the laws, and you will do just fine. But stop coming into OUR house (America) telling us that we have to re-arrange everything to fit you. Bullshit. People who come to America should come here to become Americans. Not come here to turn this country into something it's not.

Raticus for President. A chicken in every pot. Ok. I've vented for the day. Time to go to work.

I intentionally stayed out of this one. On UER anyway, most of the pc arguments for gun control come from euro/canadian members and while we wouldnt want them to be offended, are probably better off without access to firearms.

Being a small and timid sort of man myself, I need a gun to make me feel bigger and to equalize my ability in a fight.

You can ban guns and only the weak and compliant members of society will obey the ban, criminals, well if they already plan to violate your rights by assaulting you, robbing your bank, or just have their way with your wife (or same sex domestic partner uhmm... then I doubt they are going to hesitate to break a freakin gun law and if you think they will then Ive got some bottom land in Houston to sell you.

As for being cowboys, not me. I consider myself an indian and dont need to use the white mans thunder sticks when I can use my dull, poorly forged trade knife or the nearest available ant hill to kill my victims the indian way!

Hey Raticus maybe we can get a class action against all the pc freaks out there.
I can see it now- the headlines alone would make the whole thing worth it!

Damn right. I'm offended as Hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. I'm offended by diesel Mercedes, and teal colored Ford Tauri, and Oil of Olay soap, and American Idol, and much more. Lets get and picket, or strike, or something.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

Well it happened, but not like it's portrayed some times.
Many times gunfights were one shot in the back deals.
Plenty did die and were save, by the bullet.
