Hello all,

New guy here from the Central IL area.

Right now I'm just lurking, reading posts and getting a feel for how things are, the unwritten rules, and that sort of thing. I figure that should keep me from posting things like... "Hey, I found this abandoned place, should I bring a flashlight?"

I've done some UE'ing in the past but it's been many years. There's an old state hospital about 20 minutes from me that we used to explore back in college, but security is really tight around there now. We were pretty professional about the whole thing -- big on stealth, common sense, and not acting like total jack*sses about things.

So anyway. That's all I have to contribute. If there's anyone in the Peoria area who wouldn't mind a rookie tagging along, here I am. Or, on the other hand, if someone needs an area scouted out, I'd be willing to do that sort of thing too

You're in Peoria-land? I grew up in E. Peoria but I haven't been back there much in years, so I don't know much about what's there now. Still, I always get the feeling that there's a lot in the area just waiting to be explored.

So, um, yea...just wanted to say "hi".

Did you ever make it into the old IH plant in Canton?

Think it is gone now...

Nice first post Jeep! I think I like you.

Welcome to UER.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

I'll be up in Central Illinois visiting family in Danville in about a month or so if anyone wants to show a girl around. I would be ever so thankful.

Hi all!

Thanks for the warm welcome -- Dixiesquare (Isn't that the mall from the Blues Brothers?) -- no, but I believe the old factory burned down several years ago. I may be mistaken.

NV -- I have not heard anything (and I have looked) about any UE'ing groups in town. I was going to put an ad in the Journal Star asking who wants to break into abandoned buildings with me and look around, but it seemed like a bad idea.

SaraB -- please contact me off list.. I have a question for you about Danville

Heh, yea...an ad in the Urinal Jar (as my clever friends and I called it) probably would be not such a hot idea. I'm sure there are others in the area who are into exploring, but I haven't heard of any "formal" groups, websites, etc. The closest thing I've seen to Peoria UE stuff online is this:

... which isn't much, and it isn't up-to-date either.

I dunno...I wish I could be of more help. Good luck.

I don't live too far away from you, a few hours or so. I actually made a topic about a possible meetup hitting Evansville, IN and then Cairo, IL the next day. I'd be happy to come up and explore with you, or if you want, I'd be happy to have you here to explore with us. It's up to you, but the invite's open.
