In addition, posted signs are not required. Any man made or natural barrier (fence, berm, ditch, or secured doors) constitutes an attempt by the owner to isolate their property.
With that said, if I were to put myself in the cop's shoes (which is easy to do); If I came accross people in a site that is supposed to be vacant, even if they are looking in windows or just generally on the property, that would get my attention and I'd want to find out if anything is amis. Once contact is made, attitude goes a long way (and that includes body language) in either dispelling my concerns or making me think there is more going on which I'd want to investigate further.
Like, Scaggs said, these guys are paid crap money for what they have to go through on a daily basis.

The only time they can make an arrest with out warrant is if the people in question show intent to flee. so "Imperial polk County" has once again shown everyone how inappropriate a police officer can act. Being that its the Meth capital of Florida, you think they can attempt to remedy that problem before wrongfully arresting people that are just curious.
Also what constitutes a "typical Floridian"?

A lot has do with how you act and what you say to the cops. A little respect and a polite, honest, direct demeanor go a long way if you didn't break any major laws.
Some will things jam you up like having tools (any kind), gloves in a warm climate looks real bad, if it was dark, and little or no camera equipment. More than one person can make things worse too.
Cops don't like prowlers, who does? If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a...you get the idea. Sometimes you happen to be somewhere that just had a string of vandalism or such that gets them going. I was in an area that had a school rile scare a few days early. A couple 12 yo's told the cops "there's a man with a gun (tripod) going into the tree line". Weeeee! Those cops were not in a friendly mood at all when we met. Hey, is that a #12 gauge pointing at my chest, or are you just happy to see me?
Shit happens. Sorry it happen to you, because it's not fun!

I think you meant to say that the only time they can enter your residence. They can arrest you whenever they chose.
In GA, having lockpicks on you at all, regardless of location is a felony.

Nice! My brother-in-law is a detective and my dad was a Highway Patrolman. They go nowhere without keeping a keen eye out for your safety and are sworn to uphold the law, even when off duty.
Gripe all you want about "bad cops" and how unfair it is that someone got busted doing something they knew was illegal, the fact is this world would be a very unhappy place to live in if the "pigs" didn't do their job. When you break the law, you deal with the consequences. Parents should be teaching this but if they didn't, the legal system will. Just don't expect the enforcers to play all nice when they have to do it. Besides, you probably wouldn't be so cheerful all the time either if you had to deal with the scum of humanity every day for a shitty salary, no respect and the real possibility of losing your life serving people who call you pigs and whatnot.

And they werent doing anything illegal, got busted for loitering and prowling while waiting for a friend. Polk county is unlike most other areas in the US in conjunction to arrests and general "police fuckedupedness". I'm not knocking on all police, just most of the Polk county sheriffs office. When there is a problem concerning one's justice system, wether it be locally or otherwise, it needs to be brought to the attention of others. This thread was originally posted to warn others of the possible consequences of exploring, not to bitch and moan about what people deserve, and to knock other groups of explorers. How about we start acting like a community again instead of cutting at throats all day.
