| | | It would set off IR motion sensors, and would allow you to take IR pictures, but nothing else really (besides NVGs)

| | | None of my IR illuminators get especially hot. I even have a mini-mag with an IR LED swapped in, and it still works acceptably. My Sure Fire M1's work great, and don't bother me to hold in my mouth and they have not had any effect on the velcro I use to hold them to my helmet.
Please don't be stupid. It might piss me off so much that I have a seizure or something. I hate stupid people. |

Get a red filter, and it won't kill your night vision, and it's less noticeable by security, etc... Edit: Also, blue for looking through glass or water, and amber for looking through fog or smoke. [last edit 3/2/2007 1:34 AM by Gordo - edited 1 times]

| | | your eyes don't hurt staring into ir led's. i don't know the reasons the reasons why but ir leds don't get any hotter than regular leds and don't make your eyes ache.

| | | I work in theatre a lot and one of the main things that we have to be sure of is that we can use our maglites and other light sources without them being visible. The trend at the moment is to gel the lens of your mag blue. It works like a treat.

If you have a pair of the IR goggles it would bathe the area in Infrared light naked to the eye but Illuminating to the IR goggles/Camera/ect.. also like Sphinx said it would set off detectors and stuff.. and piss off police helicopters if its really strong as they use that to search for people at night
I will defeat that which was once untouchable only so that I may now move on |

| | | Fact Red Light - Doesn't kill your night vision. Fact Red Light - can be seen more readily at night then most of the other colors in the visible spectrum. I believe the human eye developes the ability to see the color red first. They say this is the reason so many people can identify reds oranges and varied similar colors faster on a glance then the other side of the spectrum.

| | | He's talking about sheets of plastic film that are placed over the stage lights to change the colors. Like when they want to show "night time", they'll use blue gels.

| | | So just like blue cellophane over the end of the torch kinda thing or is 'gel' literal? i know i sound like a fool but a question unasked is the dumbest question in town. [last edit 3/23/2007 6:48 AM by GIJOE - edited 1 times]

| | | I think gels are cellophane, if there not they are very similar to it. they are very heat resistant.

| | | I think they are cellophane. They're thicker than the kind that is used for wrapping food packages and such.
