Today Matty B., and I - Cassandra E. expanded our adventure horizon. We found ourselves on the Eastern side of the state, exploring the oh so fabulous Autumn Sea Police Department (1). We have decided to keep a record of our locations by journaling them.

Here is my first attempt:

Inside we found arranged strands of functional Christmas lights, a youth hockey rink, walls to scale, paper mache animals, brightly colored bathrooms, frozen mushrooms that resembled some sort of abstract glass piece, an 80's porno mag where breasts are as large as the hair, oodles of gas masks, empty prison cells, full prison cells, a wall of filing cabinets, several beds to jump on, a massive amount of natural light, an assortment of goofy window dressings, rooms with dangling ceiling nonsense, funny moldy smells, a hang glider, a 3d town map, hockey gear, an arsenal, assorted offices, a beaaautiful staircase, three wardrobe changes, a full beer…and all the happy times that accompanied these magnificent finds.

Best of all, we made a new blend on our adventure!

Not all of this came without cost though. Keep in mind there are three bruises, two sore bodies, a four AM wake up call, three coffee stops, approximately seven rest room stops, two siren scares, and an unnumbered calculation of vulgar phrases thrown at the GPS.

The outcome was totally positive. Not too many causalities.

Team Found Artists has triumphed The Autumn Sea PD!

(oh yeah...we created a name for our team to use on Urban Exploration Forums & such. I suppose we have gone pro now). Matthew adds: “The t-shirts, bumper stickers, and fan club website will be coming soon. In the meantime … add us so that you can keep abreast of all the latest and greatest…”

Now to reflect on the institutional interpretation:

I believe that any sort of empathy that shines through on these shots may be attributed to the hand full of Forensic patients I had the opportunity to work with at my internship. They often had the most amazingly bizarre, complex and detailed rationales for their placement and conditions. Many were accompanied with seemingly paranoid thought processes. I knew one woman in particular who would have rather taken her life than live in such an institution where rehabilitation is not an option.

Having never stepped foot in such a facility, I have not really been able to empathize with this reaction. Today I realized.

It would take a brave brave human to sleep AND utilize a toilet in the same room. (ugh)

Some of these offices were mighty scary too.

Dimly lit grimy rooms.

We even encountered a questioning room for children and adolescents who had been sexually abused. There were piles of papers isolating pieces of the body for victims to circle, and forms, case studies, and theoretical literature left behind to assist those in confronting the traumatized person.

Perhaps the sunniest room in the entire building was a little closet like place with rainbows on the windows...perhaps intended to sooth and bring hope.

I do not think that it was more than two rooms over that we found the near-antique porno mag. totally a suggestive placement.

Oh the places we will go.

To learn perspectives we do not know.

And behold with our very sight,

This strange new world we have captured with light.

I swear I get lost in her eyes every time you post. Does she model full time or is this something she does on the side?

and that is the indifference of good men.

From Matthew:

She models for me. Occasionally she models for other people. But she's a music therapist and she works with disabled children as her full time job/career.

We have been dating for a while... and both love urbex... so combining spending time together, going on new adventures, and my love of photography - its no wonder she's in most of my shots... (as if that could ever truly be a bad thing)
