3. I've not "hacked" into anyone's hotmail account. At one time, 6 months ago, I used the password that a new user provided for their account to check out their hotmail account (no hacking -- they GAVE me their password) to confirm that this user was indeed the Rob guy who had been terrorizing the forum. It was, so I logged out and then removed his forum account.

I read some of Max Action's PMs is because there was evidence of a leak in forum security

"A leak in forum security?" Puuuuuuuuuulease!

Some decent folk simply told me that you were talking shit about me and threatening to ban me in the Administrator's forum. That is NOT an issue of "forum security."

Get a life.

No, he took the password that they provided when they signed up for this forum to log into their hotmail account. No helping involved. No consent given.

It's Max Action and Ninj. They don't just make shit like this up.

I get the jist of your reply. I don't think he ever "checked" someone's mail, he just used the email address to verify that the user was indeed who he is or was supposed to be.

I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying.

It's true. It happened. A useless waste of skin had his privacy violated without his permission. It's no excuse that it was perpetrated against a useless waste of skin, it was still wrong. I objected when it happened in the first place...

There is definite wrongdoing here, mistakes were made by more than one person. I don't throw all the blame at any one of the people involved, but some at all of them...

Now where the hell are these comely lasses for Jester ?

I can understand your respect for Ninj, but I'm not sure he was making an accusatory statement regading the "reading" of Private Messages. My impression was that he was simply giving a "heads up" that pm's are not necassarily private. This may have been precipated by an event regarding a banned user, e.t.c..
Okay , with that in mind, would Ninjalicious or someone close to this thread please summarize the intent of this thread.
I reacted because someone threw out an accusation without any substantial evidence.
Once again, someone give the peanut gallery a synopsis.

I wasn't going to get involved with this I don't know the whole story, I'm hoping we'll get more information before this turns into a total flame war.

As far as "Private" messages go, I would never assume that such a message system on a forum were truly private, and it would be stupid to assume so on any site which doesn't give an explicit statement promising message privacy. I don't think it says anywhere that Av won't read your messages if he thinks it's necessary to locate or resolve a problem, and I would expect him or the other mods to do so if they needed to, although I'd expect people with this power to have the decency not to go reading random PMs just for fun. If you want true security to discuss your real name or your sewer cocaine-smuggling ring then use a PM or forum email to ask someone to email you back at an address you trust.

As Freak said, I didn't want to get involved in this discussion. But now that I have freed myself from the FlightSuit ROCK OUT stage, I have taken an interest and decided to add my two cents.

All I will say is this:

When the folks governing this forum start losing their heads, well then things aren't good for us lowly users. The incident with the E-mail and password, is uncalled for, and I would hope that Av now sees this, and will choose to not do so again. I don't want to see the whole commmunity built around this forum lost, so all that is involved please resolve this matter peacefully. I appreciate it being brought out of the black and into the public forums so all users are aware of this situation. I pesonally would like to see a statement from all involved, telling us public users that the matter has been dealt with and resolved. Other than that, I hope everyone can make peace and we can continue on with our regularly scheduled discussions.

I don't understand why there's all this accusations and yelling. I already admitted to logging in to the guys' hotmail in my first post.

Was it wrong? I guess so, if you look at only that. However, what is the lesser of two evils: Doing a quick check-up on the guys' account, and thereby saving the rest of the forum from his wrath, spam, and the mods from headaches, or not doing it, and letting hell break loose?

Asher: I think it's shameful that you are bringing to2600 into this. That has nothing to do with this topic. Don't bring it up again. Also, you don't even have a UE website anymore (uecanada has been down for like 3 weeks), so please don't try to push that on me.

A certain amount of privacy is given away every time you surf the internet. This server's log files record your IP, browser, and many other details about you. If I wanted to, I could notify the police with this information, pointing them in your direction, over something you'd done.

Of course, I wouldn't do that. You all have to trust both me, and the administration of this forum, that we give you as much privacy as is possible. However, if you've been asked to leave, and you return, you've lost all rights to privacy (since you're now violating the rules you agreed to when you signed up) and therefore it's acceptable for me to verify your identity (via hotmail if needed).

Or, if you're told to keep a piece of information confidential, and it leaks out, the forum administration has a right to examine the source of the leak, to confirm if it was indeed you.

Keep in mind: Asher is only this angry because she was caught red-handed. That's why she's dragging skeletons out of the closet.

Av, UEC is still up and hosted on a very fast server. The DNS is down, you should do your homework. And as far as being caught goes. What? I told Max you were complaining about him because he was being mean to you or whatever it was you were crying about.

I do not feel bad for doing that because he is a million times more interesting than you will ever be and I'd rather be his buddy than yours. I did over step yet another TOS I didn't understand. People fuck up. I said that before.

I'm angry because you lie and lie and lie and lie. That bugs the shit out of me because I cannot stand liars. Of all things -that- is what really gets under my skin.

Everything with you, man. Fucking the fake alarm in the CMP --which I did not hear through you -- the breaking into his e-mail, god only knows what else. All of it. Did I mention it isn't just me? Exkal had some nice stuff to say to.

People cannot trust you. You're a liar.

So you know what? Fuck ya!

Haha. You're still a lair!

With that I'm telling you UEC wants nothing to do with UER or you.

You can take your lies and shove them because that's one thing I will -not- stand for.

Holy crap, will someone PLEASE lock this thread? It has officially degraded into hopeless flaming and I see no resolution coming to this anytime soon.
