|  | | | Anyone know about the old Marlboro Raceway in Upper Marlboro? I live right up the street, oddly enough I've never taken the time to go explore it.
Marlboro Motor Raceway was a counterclockwise road course and a 1/3 mile paved oval located near Marlboro, Maryland.

It is in a state of disrepair, and years ago it appeared someone was living on the property, although now it looks like that might be abandoned too. I'm gonna try and get up there to check it out this year.
I also have pictures of abandoned Aquasco dragstip. It closed due to noise restrictions. As an avid car enthusiast and owning a 'race' car myself, I found it extremely surreal standing in the middle of a 1/4 mile of pavement, with pinetrees lining the track and the announcers booth and spectator stands all around.

Funny thing was, me and bunch of friends went there 1 night, and you have to go through a neighborhood to get to it, and there's a house right at the entrance gate to this place. Anyways, we went there and when we came back to our cars the county police were driving up and down the street and pulled us over. I guess somebody called the cops on us, and they asked if we were doin drugs or drinking back there, which we weren't. We were questioned and let go .
Late on, I went there during the day, parked my truck right at the gate, walked back (about .5 mile entrance road before you get to the dragstrip), took pics and left without incident in the broad daylight. Just goes to show that sneaky around in the dark people think you got something to hide.

| | | | I went here about a year ago. Unless you're interested in racing history there isn't much for you to see. Basically a track over-run w/ foliage, 2 sets of crumbling stands and a couple outbuildings being used for storage.

Thank you also for relating your encounter with authorities and how you handled it successfully. I want to put enough of these under my belt until I muster up the courage to tackle some of the derelict sections of Baltimore's commercial harbor. I have a thing for rusty cranes... ;)

| | | | at least there's still 'something' left of that track... near here, there was a dragstrip in North Hudson NY on US Route 9 (which died when the Northway [I-87] was installed in 1966-67) and there is nothing left to that but the track itself which is now the main street for this little housing settlement. From what my father and uncle have said, North Hudson was quite the track in the 1960's. People came from all over the northeast and Canada to race there.

| | | | Me and the Mrs went to Marlboro today. as soon as we got inside, we got escorted out by security. apparently, part of the place is still being used for for something. The Guard seemed pretty pissed we got in but he did tell me to come back on Tues Weds and the owners would give a tour of the place and photos could be taken then. We thought a sunday afternoon would be perfect but I guess we're wrong.
So anybody in the MD/DC area, if you want a hassel free tour of the raceway, just stop by on Tuesday or Wednesday.
