| | Your best pics in "NO Photography Allowed" areas < on 2/3/2007 6:07 PM >
| | | Mine 1)I wanted of pic of me in the sistine with the creation in the background, its sloppy but I was later man handled by security and escorted halfway out. notice the row of security cameras also in the shot. thats how they singled me out of the large group with the camera below my waist 2)The walls and ceilings in this crypt were ornately decorated with the bones of an unearthed mass burial site of friars. Inside it said "You are what we used to be, we are what you will someday be" 3)Pics of screen art and authentic samurai armor from the osaka-jo castle
Ones that I was too chicken or unable to take.... 1)was on "The price is right"but they confiscated all phones and cameras before entering the studio 2)Michalangelos David, they had all my backpacking gear behind the counter so i didnt wanna get kicked out and not be able to get my gear back 3)The bedroom of Ludwig II in the Linderhof Palace. Dude had a bedroom that made any MTV cribs bedroom look like a Greyhound Bus bathroom. There was a chandelier that you could've given full grown adults carousel rides on.

| | | It'd be nice if I believed there was a reason you weren't allowed to photograph the Sistine Chapel other than the fact it would hurt their postcard sales :\ I got a couple shots of the Catacombs in Rome, lagging behind the rest of the tour group and such.

| | | I was working on a project for my photo class last night, the problem is titled "Moment/Movement" so I went to the mall to take some longer shutter speed shots of people. I was there for ten minutes before I got cornered (literally) by three security guards and they told me to leave, but not before trying to take my camera to erase the images. I wasn't using a tripod cause I thought it'd be too conspicuous.. but here's what I got. out of about 15 shots...

I know someone who actually got a pic of David. Didn't even get caught. I don't know how she did it, but it was a great picture.

Good thing you didn't get right in front, that'd be an eyeful. I've gotten some good shots of the mall before,I went up on the disused overflow lot on a hill behind the mall and took some shots.

| | | Oh, rent a cops are a joke. I was taking pictures of the mall movie theater that had closed a few weeks ago and some doofus rent-a-cop kept driving by in his golf cart giving me the evil eye. I really wanted him to hassle me, since I was standing on the public sidewalk and I knew there was nothing he could do. (This same company does security where I work, so I know that a lot of the people who work for them are morons.)

It isn't, but a mall isn't public property.

Get your facts straight, a mall isnt public property, even before the patriot act was passed you werent able to photograph, film, or distribute papers in a mall that didnt allow it. So the president and his "gestapo" didnt roll into your consumerism centers touting death warrants for those photographing in malls. If you readinto the fine details, the patriot act isnt all that bad its just the assholes that abuse it. A few weekends ago I was on a sidewalk in a Cincinnati park photographing the underside of the Cincinnati Purple People Bridge when a cop rolled up and informed me that apparently due to "Public Safety Concerns" regarding terrorism I was not allowed to photograph the bridge that my tax dollars are used to maintain.

What if a mall doesn't have any signs saying that photography and video aren't allowed, but security tells you that it's not okay? One time, early last year, I believe, in a local mall, I was taking photos of an excellent mural that was apparently dedicated to fallen servicemen, military and otherwise, when a mall staff person (I don't think that he was security) told me that I wasn't supposed to be doing that. I apologized and went on my way. I'd already gotten a couple of decent shots, so it wasn't really a big deal.

| | | Security's default answer is no. Let them try to take your camera. . . . The idea of having 3 highschool dropouts assault me because of an ill-defined company policy makes me giddy. It makes my lawyer even giddier.
