Grain can be cool, not saying it's cool in these photos... but it has a place. They're portraits; not the standard asylum hallway, but those get boring anyway!

So I am not the only elitiest...? Happy to meet you glass. I really like 3 and 6. I'm not digging the grain, but it looks as if these are snap shots of friends and have that quality to them (for the moment). [last edit 1/26/2007 1:35 AM by Air - edited 1 times]

| | | These aren't my best work by any stretch! When I put my better photos on UER I can't get anyone to reply! Yes, I am aware that there's a lot of grain, but I was shooting as I was walking and the subject was walking in a not-so-lit environment. One must do what one must do. The Mo-Mo set is more thoughtful, but less spontaneous.

I've never thought about posting my best. I keep them offline...although I'm always amazed at what people like on different sites. Floored actually. As soon as you place a person in a shot, I get 3x as many comments on flickr.

| | | What I did after looking at these: haha lol jk. There was not one that I didn't enjoyed. I particularly liked the first because of the city lights in the background and the last because the outline of the face is so well defined against the black. Very nice

Funny because I only picked one keeper out of the three sets. Being the first of the Mo-Mo set.

| | | The only one I liked was the very last one...very atmospheric.. all the others look like you've taken pictures when you've been out drunk..but fair play..everyone likes drunk pictures ;)

| | | Yeah, most of the pictures I take suck... but I think it's that way with even the best photographers. "Throw, throw, throw, maybe, throw, save, throw-throw, no wait--throw the saved one... throw..."

| | | Slightly out of focus? They look sharp as a tack to me...when im in the middle of a tongue swallowing seizure. All joking aside, the last one is a wonderful portrait, its on a different level than the others.

| | | I think that the idea and composition are really good. they are a little snap shotty, but i think that is what i really like about them. i will not repeat about the grain, but if you were able to fix that these would be really good. now a question... what really causes the graininess? is it only from the long shutter speed needed to capture the subject with low light?

| | | if he's shooting at 1/60 that shouldn't be long enough to catch grain. My guess would be slamming the iso to as high as it will go on his camera (Glass. what camera are you using?) Some of it looks photoshoppy though.

I'm not going to start a new thread for all of my favorites. I'd normally tell you to check the website, but my PHP imploded last night and the gallery needs some tender love. This hasn't been updated in a while, but there are some pics: http://glasvorkks.com/simpleviewer/

| | | The grain is mostly ISO. Photoshop is a dirty word now, I take it?
