| | | I'm not sure if this link has been posted before, but in case it hasn't... There's a collection of Montreal tramways pictures at this site: http://davesrailpix.com/mtc/mtc.htm Lots of historic Montreal street scenes, and some of the pictures are nicely annotated. The same site also hosts a collection of historic Quebec railway pictures here: http://davesrailpix.com/odds/qu/qu.htm Enjoy!

| | | What a wonderful collection. Nice find and thanks for sharing. Recently, I've been looking trough all my hard drive for an old collection of 1970s photos of Montreal. I can't give much details yet, but Nostra-Youpi is going to be really happy ( I hope ) Here's a few of my favorites from the pics you found: In Saint-Lambert. For curious explorers, this building is still standing, it was the Waterman's pen factory. It used to be abandoned but was suposedly renovated recently (I can't confirm):

| | | watermans is now condos, it was renovated about 2-3 years back. the southern counties rr used one side of the victoria bridge, the trams didnt run on the CN ROW. the southern counties rr ran what were called interurbans. They sometimes pulled a box car or 2 behind these streetcars. they were the electric equivalent of a "doodlebug" [last edit 1/22/2007 6:54 PM by nostra-YOUPPI! - edited 1 times]

| | | It's Atlas Asbestos Co, TaP. Here's a bit better look at it:
Next time you're at the book store, check out this book "Montreal Through Time" (or some such thing). It's in the touristy Montreal picture book section, and I believe it has Jacques Demers' name on it. In it is a 2-page panoramic spread taken from Silo #5 in the 30s that is just stunning.

I'm old, but I guess I'm not that old. My public transportation memories go as far back as when you could smoke in the back of the MUC buses. And I remember the blue Brisebois buses that used to service the Waste Island. Those suckers got you around about as fast as your feet did. Not that much has changed since the MUC instigated service 'round these parts
