I'd highly recommend a coast LED lenser two color flashlight. One red light, 5 bright white LED's. The red is perfect for nighttime when you're outdoors, and the white is great for really dark abandonments. Only 25 bucks at home depot!

That's just like the "TC Special" (Rayovac something or another), 'cept it also has incandescent and only costs about $10.

I just got back from Wal-Mart and picked one of these up for $5. 3 1-watt LED bulbs, and it takes less than a minute to install. I happened to come across my old Mini Mag in my dresser last night and figured I'd upgrade.

yeah. i just broke my mini mag installing the nite-itz 3 led setup. i popped the "do not remove" piece off... but i have some spare parts, and will fix tomorrow...

lesson: be gentler and take batteries out first, lol.

The Mini-Mag 3 1-watt LED add-in is excellent for a nice blue-ish wash, but you lose the benefit of a focusing beam. It is, however, much more battery friendly, I use up the batteries in my LED light at about 1/4 rate of the xenon one. I carry one of each plus my headlamp.
