| | | There is no best time or way to get in. Each place has different obstacles and each time brings different circumstances. You have to be able to adjust accordingly. [last edit 9/25/2007 11:05 AM by KroniK - edited 1 times]

| | | Bout the same here, I go for only urban/industrial... so 2-3am is a good move. Unless its in some sort of industrial park, they are totally abandoned on sundays, so I do those in daylight.

| | | In Ottawa here, the best time to usually go into places is after midnight and before 5 AM. Before midnight, lots of people go for a night walk but after midnight, everyone mysteriously disappears.

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy |

I agree, some of my better trips have been during rainy days. I typically dont like doing night trips, due to the fact that you do get crummy photos, and in the wonderful areas I explore the floors are rotting away, and there is a risk of a 8+ foot fall. There has been alot of useful information in this thread, different strokes for different folks. The key in certain public situations is to make yourself inconspicuous. If you are walking into a place with a backpack on, gloves on, and in boots or other equipment for your safety, you are a dead give away. unfortunately the trade off is you go in unprepared and can get yourself into a jam. Good Luck to all, and be careful out there.

Yeah the sweet spot for no one out is between 2:30-4:30 but personally I don't like 3 AM read Something Wicked This Way Comes-Ray Bradbury and you'll understand I forget if this has already been posted but by far the BEST time to go is only happens twice ever year...Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year my friend walked into a normal fully active site quarry through the front gate and all around. Even found a truck with the keys in the ignition. | | | For me, it's case by case. The one place I've been is right next to a shopping center that pretty much shuts up shop by 9pm, and it's off the road with no windows visible to the road, so night is the best option there. When Wags and I infiltrated a hotel in Cleveland, we did it during Indians playoff. Most of the police attention was focused on downtown and not on the outskirts in some long-forgotten building. I prefer daytime entrances, I like light for pictures. I just usually scout and also do most exploring on Sundays (my day off usually). Our one night photo shoot got interrupted by an officer, however, we told him straight-up what we were doing, and after gabbing with us about some history, he left us to our photos. (Sub-lesson here: Cops aren't always the enemy)
dsankt: In fact, the day I die yall are welcome to form an orderly queue and run a train on my eye sockets. I'll be dead and frankly, will not give a f*ck. budda: That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fuck me sideways this is insane. ~~~~~~ Because it's Cincinnati |

What Are You Looking At?
| | Re: Best time to go in <Reply # 54 on 11/26/2007 4:30 PM >
| | | For me it has to do with the specific target, the weather, the day and time of the week, and my available/free time, which I take into consideration to decide when I go in. I love it when the weather is extremely poor, such as heavy rains, fog, snowstorms, etc, as good potential times to do UE. Anything that distracts the general people, police, neighbors, or whatever can only be a plus for a adventurous soul. Each person needs to figure out when somethings a go or no go. Also, with me, how I'm feeling plays a major factor. If I'm just not "into" the moment, I'll put it on the back burner for another day.
I'm going hunting for mysteries. Where's my flashlight? Don't Like Clowns who Vandalize, B&E, and Steal from Sites. |
