Night Draining

What are the risks for draining at night? There are a couple of drains that I want to visit, but they're in exposed places. You're underground, so it can't matter that much.

The only danger I can think of is that it'd be harder to keep an eye on the weather. Violent folks, security, etc aren't really much of an issue.

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Night is when the devil worshippers drag the sacrificial lambs into the drains and slit their throats. The blood can be pretty slippery and sometimes the melted candle wax is pretty hot. Wear gloves and rubber soled shoes.

Also at night the drains can be pretty dark, you best pack a flashlight just in case!

the main thing you need to be aware of at night is bums who may be making camp in the out/infalls of drains. they may not take too kindly to you coming into their 'home'.

I think that's a bit of a myth. It happens, but rarely.

I've seen homeless people stash things in drains, but never stay there. If I was homeless, I know I can think of better places to sleep than a drain.

this may be true, but let me tell you, we have some straight up LUNATICS living along the Platte (where most of the good drain outfalls are).

bottom line here, i think, is do your recon.

Yeah, I hear that: there's one place in every town. Here, it's where three bridges cross a creek. I guess it's always near water. Ironically, it's literally right off the golf course. I've went through there once, and I was about halfway through the "empty" camps when I realized I was pretty sure some of them had hidden under their blankets to avoid dealing with me when they heard me coming. Creepy as hell.

It dosnt seem like i would have much more of a risk, but it is just a lot better to go durning the day. All the bits of light that come in through grates, manholes, etc. makes a massive difference (though you'll need a flashlight anyway). This is especially true if you want to take any photos. Other than that i dont see much a difference. Racoons and crazy people(though more active at night) will both be out durning night and day especially around drains.
